Hi Jonas,

Please reread my post there is no whining, just a sugestion of a possible solution that might cost VF a little, but would save numerous companies a good deal.

You must be aware that everytime we've been going on a shoot and the VF wasn't there we've had to rent another unit, same goes for many other companies like ours, this is all costing a good deal of money.

As Frederik is saying, it's all about the balance between pleasing your clients and still make a profit.

I don't call this whining, it's a negociation between nice people, let's please keep it that way.

Yes...nowadays people cannot handle slightest complain about such things and sensitive. If you consider this whining. I dont think you can handle the real whine. This is very fair because we tolerating here as well, which most tends not to see it..but only some complain points that was made, which sometimes makes me think, we cannot complain, better shut up.

Rivai if you read Jonas post carefully it's actually quite well written. He's not directly saying that you guys are whining, don't take everything literally.

He's saying that some posts that's starting to come in are non constructive. Meaning that every second post is asking for an update and some of them with a remark in how bad the guys are at communicating and giving updates about the process.

IMHO these guys have not been bad at that at all. Yes there's delays on these products but as Jonas says that was the risk we went for when we decided to back up a non shipping product.

We are the investors and this is the price we pay.

I'm getting tired of hearing the little chime that I've got mail, seeing that it's the VF thread. Getting excited just to be bummed out that it's not any GREAT news at all. It's just some new "poor fella" wanting an update of when they're coming.

They're just about to ship, we're literally around the corner so PLEASE PLEASE give it a rest. Llet the guys work and feel good about it. I don't think them opening this thread with all this critic is strengthening them at all.

Can we please do that so the next 'You've got mail' chime is a christmas present one?

Since we never got a deadline from Curt that he was able to meet, I think it doesn't make sense any more to question him about the current status. We would never hear the truth, unfortunately.

Here's a short list of some unkept promises:

Assuming we receive parts in a few days we can start on production.

Didn't happen.

Were building up 10 units that are going out to some lucky folks and we are doing our best to get them out this week. [...] We expect to be building up anywhere from 50 to 100 units per week so the backlog should disappear by the middle of December.

first 10 units are going out on Tuesday now and al remaining orders will be shipped by the end of December.

we are going to do another test with a chamber that can go down to -20C in the next week or so

Never heard of any results (I might have missed them though.)

We're receiving 500 sets of parts next thursday at which point we should be able to start cranking these out.

Curt, this is not a personal attack. I know you do whatever you can to ship the units as soon as possible. But after this short history of broken promises we simply cannot trust any more dates you mention.

So either we give up and cancel our orders or we wait for the bitter end - whenever that will be. I will wait because I trust in your engineering skills. I know that Impero and Inclino will be great products - once they ship.

Just my 2 cents, but some guys tend to get carried away just because they own a Red Camera... I know we're special :sarcasm: but it also could be because we have manners and are well educated with patience and tolerance being from Jim's school...

View Factor is a couple brothers and some help, not Sony, Not Panasonic, not even Red, but man what treat its going to be to work with these units.

Now I must say VF could have done a better job at communication sometimes,
but when your busting your hump 10 to 12 hours a day its tough. Maybe in the future product ship dates will be held until the product is truly ready to ship.

All I know is that the boys at Viewfactor are my heros for bringing a product to market that can compete with the bigs at a fraction of the cost.

RED is ok, they keep up with the promise, altho there're delays and missed it one or two but we can hold on to their promised date which is fine. BigJon sticky and Jim's announcement are the one keep us on track to find out what's happening.

Hopefully this whole ordeal hasn't turned him off to building more products. As far as I can see, most delays were beyond his control...

It's just completely unbelievable to me that no one seems to understand the root of the problem with this situation. It's so simple, and that's what drives people crazy.

When a date is stated for something to happen, one of two things must occur on or before that date:

1. Said event should occur

-or-

2. 10 minutes should be set aside for someone to post that it isn't going to happen.

Explanations why it didn't happen aren't really required, it's just that SOMETHING needs to be said or delivered on the date that was projected.

There's nothing worse than silence from someone who has your money, and the amount does NOT matter.
