Very Light RED setup

How about a belt clip for a battery with a long cable, so one could just hold the RED body when shooting? (using CF card recording)

A 10 lbs handheld job ?

(holding the red lcd with left hand, or clipped onto the red somehow without the heavy rods and base pack..)

can the RED lcd connect to the left of the camera somewhere without the base kit?

Yeah, the Noga arm the RED LCD comes with could screw into one of the eight 1/4-20 holes on the camera body. You wouldn't have many choices, but it's still possible.

You might want a top handle on a top mount...

Yes, i forgot to mention that.. it has a top handle already screwed in which i would use to hold in on my shoulder.. right arm up like holding a water canister for the water cooler.

Then there are a bunch more 1/4-20s on the top mount and top handle to use as well.
