Hi all,
I'm filming in India in the middle of a festival crowd and am trying to get the Epic as small as possible (ie. no matte box). I bought a 95mm Variable ND (the diameter size of the lens) but it seems about a millimeter too small for the lens. Has anyone found a non-matte box, non-internal ND solution for these lenses?

best,
JMH

I had custom screw owns made for the LSCs back in January, I've since sold them. I wouldn't go Variable, just get yourself 0.3-1.8 depending on what you need.

The Leica engineers made the brilliant decision to make a freaky non-standard front thread for those lenses I believe

I should mention, various rental houses that carry the Summilux-Cs often carry screw in filters. Otto for instance.

I'm pretty sure that there are screw-in filters available from both Tiffen and Schneider. Band Pro has this sheet on their website with various screw-in options: http://www.bandpro.com/blog/schneider-leica-filters/

As these are specialty products just for the Summilux-C lenses, I wouldn't expect many places to stock them, but check with Band Pro in either Burbank or Munich first.

Band Pro has them. They are great for keeping it small. We have them all and prefer using them even when using a mattebox.
