Have they mentioned what standard this is using? I noticed the 2nd antenna is labeled ACN which is Ambient Recording’s connection standard and would make sense given the 5 pin timecode interface they use as is, is the one from Ambient, plus they are “partners” per Ambient Recording’s data.

it would also make sense that they need some way to record the /i metadata from the smart PL lenses which is something ambient already does. Red also seems to be doing more partnerships given how many of their accessories are wooden camera/smallhd for example.

The ACN I refer to is this BTW: https://ambient.de/en/product/acn-partner/

Assuming it can be updated, it sounds like it can even support RCP, so RCP2 must be somehow possible as well. Would be quite a convenient feature if it natively has a “Lockit” built in.

Having a bit of that conversation here:

ACN yes, makes me believe it's Ambient and potentially Ambient only. Too early to tell. I'd love for at least one or two more comms supported, but that might be nuts.

/i has been supported on RED DSMC2 bodies previously, per frame metadata. DSMC3, haven't seen anything for Komodo or regular V-Raptor yet, but it's more than save to assume that /i will be supported on the interchangeable mounts of the XL.

RCP2 is what DSMC3 cameras use.
