Would anyone mind recommending a setup? I've purchased the XP-L95REDs, and am trying to find the best solution for mounting + charging. I was about to go with WoodenCamera, but it seems like I have to purchase a bunch of random parts to get everything in order (not opposed, just wondering what other options are available).

Additionally, I'm wondering if there is a better dual-charger out there that is more cost-effective than going with the Switronix-branded (and more expensive) charger?

Thanks!

Will any v-mount battery charger work? I'm looking for a slightly cheaper alternative to what Switronix offers.

Not all v-lock chargers will charge different v-lock batteries , and this may void the battery warranty eg IDX v-locks will not charge from a global media-pro charger. For peace of mind I always charge v-locks from chargers by the same manufacturer.

I'm so confused as to what to buy when it comes to Wooden Camera's equipment - all of the gear is spread out and things are written in such a way that I'm not sure what's actually included with each product.

Does anyone know the best setup for the Battery Slide and Switronix v-mount?

Nice blog...but somethings you may want to check out better. "Something seems a little strange about the company." or "Haven’t heard much about this option, but if price is your end all be all – check this out."

Shouldn't be dissing other companies unless you personally had a problem with.

My two cents

Thanks for checking it out man! Its by no means a thorough test of each product, this is moreso my opinions which are very subjective. That is just how I personally feel about said items, and I am not saying they're bad products in the slightest. I think that depending on what you want to spend and what your cost/quality ratio is, all of the options I listed are very viable. I've used all except the Cinema-Oxide/Jetpack/Meizler. They all work great, no doubt.

Appreciate the criticism!

No offense, it sounds like you are.

"Pretty cheap, I know a lot of people have tried this out, check out the reduser forums. Something seems a little strange about the company." when you mention about MG1 Concepts' product.

I have their Epic Anton Bauer Pro plate and its not cheap by any means. Its rock solid. All of their products are top notch using Genuine battery plates from respected industry manufacturers like IDX, Anton Bauer and BLUESHAPE.

Here's a video I shot attaching it to my Scarlet camera - easy and simple.

As for Cinema Oxide solution, another great option for RED users. I personally don't have one nor used one before but many RED users here have it and talk very highly of its quality as a superior product.

Wasn't RED talking about a V-Mount plate that would mount like the third part solutions but not need a cable (interfacing through the rear contacts)? I have the WC solution which works fine, but would totally jump for a cable free rig.

Thank for chiming in Jude! I totally miswrote the syntax in that line. I never meant for anyone to think it was cheap quality wise, I meant something more along the lines of "A cheaper option" I will definitely amend that! I appreciate you checking it out! Awesome video, I'd like to add that to the post if you don't mind.

Kemalettin,
Awesome writeup man! I don't share the same opinion, but I do see where your coming from with the WC cable. I should mention that the WC cable is a bit long and a bit more in depth in the blog. I am always worried I am going to break the cable so I am very delicate when putting it away. No troubles yet though.

That would be awesome. It would be pretty amazing to have a v-mount brick on the back as well as AC power to have a backup in case your doing a studio shoot and you don't have a sidehandle.

If it helps debunk the notion of MG1 Concepts' products build quality is of lessor performance or build quality. Please do and thank you. A basic but practical video.

My Epic Pro plate is made of the original & genuine Anton Bauer Gold Compact plate just like other professional products powering their RED cameras. Their Epic V-mount Pro is the original IDX battery plate just like View-factor & Cinema Oxide products and their Scarlet V-mount Standard plate is made from the well-respected Italian company, BLUESHAPE that has one of the best battery systems and packs available in the film industry. Ask anyone - they will tell you. Their quality and performance is far superior than Chinese knock-offs or many well known battery manufactures. They're price is high, but you get what you pay for.

Also, Scarlet V-mount Standard plate is only $399.00

I have the WC setup with Quickback and never had any issues.
The cable is a little weird but the setup works flawlessly.
A solution with no cables would be killer, I would pay 1k for it.

A very high price for their batteries and a charger from mg1concepts. Other prices also clearly too high. I recently purchased a high-power 220 batteries and charger are much cheaper, compare price from eBay. And I have the Jetpack with Quickback v2 and never had any issues :)

I'm extremely happy with my MG1 V-mount Standard plate and their new Pro batteries - 98wh Combo package. Amazing price.
