So im looking at batteries for my R1MX and i see different Wh (69,92,130,150,etc) and I was wondering if there is a chart or method to figuring out how long a battery will last on a RED so i know what Wh battery to invest in?

The caveat is that if you think you'll be flying a lot, then the max Wh Lithium Ion batteries allowed on a plane are 160Wh ones - and only two of those which must be in the cabin and not checked in the hold. Anything bigger is completely forbidden.

If LESS than 100Wh, most airlines will allow as many as you like, as long as each is protected by insulating tape and/or plastic bag against short circuits. A few airlines, such as British Airways, now have restrictions on the number of batteries even if less than 100Wh.

All depends on how are you going to build your camera, do you want it for hand held?, for a steadicam?, for a tripod?, are you only concerned about power duration?, the best choice could be to have different kind of batteries for different shooting stiles, I chose Anton Bauer path for that reason, Dionic 90 for hand held and steadicam, and Hytron 140 for tripod, if possible, and that depends on the money, chose the batteries that you will use today but with a charger that can be used for other size batteries in the future.

I bought a 130wh battery today. should arrive next week sometime. as long as i can get close to 2hrs on a fill charge i am fine.

According to the manual, the R1MX officially draws 80 W with a "typical" accessory configuration, and a 140 Wh Red Brick is specced to last about 90 min.

80 W seems to be pretty accurate in my experience - I've been getting runtimes of 2+ hours on 190 Wh V-locks. Love'em... But as pointed out, depending on your needs and budget it's good to have a mix of different capacities in your case.

Thanks for the help T_Freundlich :)
