I ordered the Scarlet-W and I’m stoked!

I have a question on V-Mount batteries. I’m planning on getting some Swit S-8110S 126wh batteries because they seem to be a decent wh vs. weight ratio vs price.

I’m pretty certain this battery will NOT show battery levels on a Red.

My questions are:

1) Will the Scarlet-W at least show the Voltage of the Swit?

2) What is the voltage cut-off before I need to switch batteries?

3) If it does show the voltage, does the Red give any warning when it’s approaching the end? For example, on my Odyssey 7Q, the Voltage number changes from white to a bright yellow, clearly indicating when voltage is low.

Thanks for any advice.

Gene:

1) If the battery is specifically wired for RED cameras it will show as percentage in the screen. Otherwise only voltage will show.
2) I've seen it at around 12.9-13.4v, but then again it will vary depending on your usage
3) No warning! Let me repeat, NO WARNING!

I use these batteries and they've been absolutely great. Only issue is they're in China so expensive shipping:

Anyway, good luck.

I have Dionic HC-X and they only give me voltage.

The camera will cutout without warning at 11.5V but sometimes it may happen a bit sooner. My batteries start at 16.0V when I put them on camera and I will run them down to about 13.5V before I start to think about changing them. After 13.5V it starts dropping pretty rapidly so I change as soon as it's convenient.

My suggestion is to (and I know this will sound boring) watch your camera sit and run through an entire battery while making notes of and odd performance notes. Without having the actual time, there is no other good way to know then to test.

Good luck!

Wow, that can be disastrous if it just cuts out.

Any chance Red can do an easy firmware coding and make it flash or change color when it gets close to 11.5v, kind of like how the Odyssey 7Q does?

Ok my bad. It certainly used to have a warning on the screen and many complained about it. So I believe it has been removed. You will get a minor warning as the voltage display will change to yellow before dying.

When it gets really low (under 11v) the voltage read out turns RED (but it doesn't flash or blink -- which I think would be far more useful/attention grabbing).
