Actually seems like the higher end of industry (theatrical features and prime time narrative TV) is actually shrinking
every single year. While reality TV and web TV grows drastically every year.
But yes everyone wants to shoot everything on ultra primes given enough budget.
Problem is for reality TV and web TV the budgets aren't even close
Yes reality tv is a phenom that seems to be here to stay. And there is also a middle ground, the Canon CN's, the CP.2's, Schneiders, etc..... these are also finding a market. But it can be tough to work with a lens set where the wide lenses are sometimes a stop (or more) slower, or they have giant holes like the canon line-up from 14mm to 24mm. it makes Ultra Primes, or Super speeds unique and worth the price. Not for every project, but when these qualities are needed they will be there.
