  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

usb 3.0 for mac is here

Uhm - and how do they connect a usb 3 device to the iMac the pictured on the site? :)

Well, considering it only comes with a FW800 cable and not a USB3 cable, its probably connected via FW800.

Then USB 3.0 doesn't matter then does it?

do you guys think the express card would work with a roll your own external
with an ssd and 3.0?

One way to find out. It does look interesting though. Maybe when I have some money I'll look into it. I kinda wish I could just upgrade my MBP's guts to something more powerful though, seeing as how the newer laptops lack any user swappable hardware features.

This is good news- Caldigit makes great stuff.

I've some doubts about connection and price...anyone knows?

With 6 gbps sata already in existence and soon to be ESATA, how viable is usb 3.0? Haven't worked with it, i'm more concerned with how quickly the computer industry adopts it, and sustained data rate. I barely and rarely use fw 800 with the exception here and there. It's been outdated for awhile now...

Now all we need is for the RedStation and modules to support USB3.0 and all will be harmonised for the fastest possible transfers across both PCs and Macs.... finally!
