After installing REDcine X Pro I can´t export to AAF and MXF AVID-files anymore. After setting up to AVID MXF and AAF the system renders 3 files MXF and one XML file. (Seems to be a FCP export now)
The files are definitely NO Avid DNXHD files... the AVID system blocks these files.

We deleted all Preferences, backuped from another systems. Nothing works. The Redcine Pro AND the old Redcine X got the same issue!!

Any workaround? Thanks a lot in advance to everybody.

Cheers

Alex

The issue came up after installing Beta 1 or two...Updating to the actual version dodn´t fixed it

Ant the issue is in the regular Redcine (e.g. 449) too... This version worked properly in the past...

After transcode the software delivers 3 MXF files (I think one video and two audios) and one XML file. Normally the software will put these together to a MXF file and an AAF file. But after the install of the Pro-version neither the Pro-version nor the old RedcineX are doing the transcode completely anymore. Really a HUGE bug!!!

Sorry david, I actually started that thread you are linking through and there still isn't a real fix. I am still using my pc currently to transcode and I would really like a fix for mac.

Could this be added to the priortity list to fix in the next update? Pretty please!

I'd love to, except Avid has to fix it in their SDK ...

In the meantime you'll have to use a work around. Export the audio separately to BWF or export to Quicktime and bring that into MC.

David

NEWS! The transcode will be finished if you´re using no audio. I´ve tried several variations, but there is NO possibility to transcode to AVID DnxHD including audio anymore...saying this software is now completely useless for transcoding to Avid media files.

Alex.. Install the software (and or Red Rocket card) on a PC and it works fine. That is my fix for now. I couldn't be bothered doing what David is suggesting as it is time prohibitive in a professional environment.

No disrespect to David of course!

Maybe a great idea...but I got no Windows machine here and no possibility to get one...

To the RED team: The issue occurred after installing the Redcine Pro Beta. After this installing ALL softwares (including former good working Redcine versions) got this issue. I´ve changed the red-settings in the application support folder to a former (working) version, but this didn´t fixed the problem. At this stage the if you enable the audio tracks for transcoding the software will not finish the process. With audio disabled it works fine (but we need the camera audio)

So with audio: 3 MXF-files and one XML-file, impossible to import to AVID MC
Without audio: AAF-folder with file and MXF-folder with file...import fine to AVID MC

All on OSX platform. Doesn´t matter if Rocket card is enabled or not.

I think you guys have to take a look on the changes in some system files etc. that will be done while installing the Redcine PRO versions.

Hope this will help...I need your help soon!!! PLEEEEEZE !!!

There is no possibility at 25 fps .. all other framerates work fine.

I think I might be having similar problems on windows 64-bit...just learning RCX though so not unlikely that I've done something daft.

Having said that I was exporting OK to AVID MXF via RCX 501 while RCX pro was suffering from the AVID export error (up to build 2). Now I've updated to build 3, I can use RCX pro to export to MXF without the system hanging, but AVID won't recognise the output files from RCX pro, nor from RCX any more if I try from there. I don't think anything else has changed.

Should say that I am trying to export 10-bit DNxHD 185 at 25fps, video only.

I'm testing with MC 5.0.3 and not having any problems at any fps, other than the known audio at 25 issue. Send log files to redcinex at red dot com with details of your preset, etc ... and I'll be happy to follow up.

@David

The problem occurs when trying to transcode to DNXHD including audio. Video only works fine...it´s definitely not a problem with AVID MC.
The transcode process will not be finished to the end...it stops at the stage with seperated files and the xml-file...Seems that the multiplexing of the audio and video components will not be started...

I've sorted out my issue with RCX Pro - MC wasn't recognising the MXF files because I hadn't locked them to 16:9 aspect ratio in the framing tab. Maybe a basic error - like I said I've just started learning it!

I assume that RCX re-read the new framing metadata from RCX Pro when I tried to go back, so that failed too.

Export to 1080/25p AVID MXF from RCX Pro seems to be working for me now anyway.

OK, on further testing, the key issue for my problem was nothing to do with the framing options in REDCINE-X Pro. Actually the only thing that determined whether AVID could read the media files or not was if they'd been CUT/PASTED into the media files folder (which didn't work) or COPY/PASTED (which did). COPY/PASTE even worked if I deleted the original RCXP output mxf's before starting Media Composer.

So seems that it's not a RCX Pro issue, but I really can't understand how this process makes any difference as far as MC is concerned...can any of the AVID experts here enlighten me?

Thanks,

Chris
