I just wanted to let everyone know that as of this afternoon, we are now shipping all NEW RED ONEs with the New V2 upgraded audio boards, and the /i pins installed, and fully functional. We sneaked /i pin support into build 16 without anyone knowing, so /i pin support will work right out of the box.

This should solve alot of complaints on the quality of Audio... make sure you go back to using "normal" XLR cables and not the modified ones. We will exchange the modified for normal cables at no cost to those already out in the field.

The existing customer camera upgrade plan will start very soon, Brent will email the details about the program next week.

Just thought you guys that have your number coming up would like to know :)

Jarred, when you say NEW, new from what serial number?
Or do you mean every camera being delivered from today?
Are those cameras with earlier serial numbers that have been waiting for final payment/ delivery also upgraded?

Every camera being delivered from this afternoon.. so if you got your tracking number today forward, it will have the new upgrades.

Early serial numbers that have not been shipped yet ( for whatever reason ) will ship with the New upgrades.

Yup.. and when you send your camera in you can send in your old cables and we will swap them out at that time...

Cables with cam then.... Looking... I may have thrown them away because of factual functionalibility. You have records of my orders, though...
(pondering here...)

Will it be possible to remove and/or service the /i pins in the field on a camera that has them/has had the upgrade? I'm very excited by the promise of having the pins and support, but there will be shows where just removing the pins to prevent damage will be a good idea.

Also, if the pins are bent and short against the mount, will the result be different than it was on the pre-X cameras? In other words, does the firmware know to ignore malfunctioning pins?

Stoked to have some new toys, can't wait to play.

Very cool. And /i support already in build-16. :)

EDIT> My second question was already answered - if I would just read.

Jarred,

Can you tell us a little about this audio board.. I get the impression that this board is of some impressive quality, but yet I have heard very little about the details.

Can you say anything about it?

details on the customer upgrade program will come as I mentioned, next week.

/i pins will be a field serviceable part (without affecting the warranty)

Hey Jarred, you said somewhere that it was a good idea to have your camera serviced/cleaned while at RED. Any idea how much this would cost?

When can I send 791 and 1256 in? There are now sitting here collecting dust, so this will be the perfect time to make the changes!

Thanks very much.

Stephen

All existing camera owners will be getting an email from me early next week with upgrade program details.

Stephen, you can make some money by sending them to me for renting out - Lim

Jarred, I have no clue if my camera was shipped today or not.
Havent heard from my bomb squad yet, although I havent received any tracking numbers yet....
Anyways I think its good news!

We are dropping the optional servicing...

Now that we have the blueprint laid out for the upgrade procedure laid out, Most of the items in our standard service package already are performed out of necessity during the upgrade process, and post-procedure QA.
