Hey Sorry guys I am new to the RED community. Anyways I was wondering if someone could help or walk me through the process of upgrading the firmware onto my RED Mysterium-X? I have downloaded the file from RED and unzipped the file and dragged it onto the SSD but my Camera info still reads it as the old version?? If anyone can help I'd appreciate it!!

***EDIT

I don't have the REDmote or RED LCD touch monitor. I am working with a SmallHD field monitor and the RED Side Handle.

Did you copy the "force_upgrade" folder to the top directory on the SSD?

If you did, when you boot the camera what happens?

This has been the bane of my existence for the past few years. I try to update the Epic MX every once in awhile with the same result-nothing. I'm still on version 4 haha.

I follow the instructions and get the folder onto the SSD properly, when I turn the Epic on it cycles through the fan and flashes the LEDs and shuts down as it says. When I turn it on, boots normally (too fast) and says V4 every time.

Any suggestions? RED doesn't touch this camera anymore and a tech has always said "follow the instructions" so not sure what else to do here.

Have you tried going to an intermediate firmware, like V5.x.x.x? Didn't think it was necessary, but you never know.

Pretty sure all the older firmwares are listed when you sign in to RED.com.

I've tried the oldest, newest, and some in between haha 3 different SSDs. Just didn't get an Epic that wants to be updated. I feel more hip this way anyway :)
