  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

UPDATE: RED Armor for EPIC-M

I like this 10% deposit idea. I can at least handle that until I allocate funds to pay for the full Armor.

ya same here with my Scarlet. didnt budget in the armor tillafter a few months & rental gigs

I think it's a great deal, my M will be covered ASAP.

Not transferable? That's a big compromise on potential resale value within the warranty period. What's the reason for that?

Red would rather sell new cameras & they don't want people to profit from a shortage of cameras, Especially X customers who have bought on very favourable terms. It's all about customer loyalty.

There are already quite a few loyal customers who have profited richly from a shortage of cameras. What's your point?

in the FAQ it says that we should contact our rep by the end of the year.

somewhere it also says that the warranty that RED gives is only for the first owner.

Brent also says that this RED Armor is not transferable.

so seems like some conflicting info, as our original email said that we had til the end of our 1 year warranty to add the new RED Armor warranty...

so, I am trying to figure out what the accurate info is.

As well as what happens when a EPICX camera is sold. What the options are. Can the new owner buy RED Armor? can we transfer it over? etc.

cheers

* If you already have your X or M, contact your rep by end of year to opt-in to RED Armor.
* RED Armor is not transferable
* I answered the one-year window earlier in this thread.
* No second-hand RED Armor plan at this time.

What if I buy it and sell the camera after two years, when the Epic M warranty is still running. Does Red just pocket the cash?

Huh?

RED Armor is an optional extended warranty plan. If you want it, buy it. If you think it is not worth it, don't.

I'd prefer to purchase within a year. If not, that means I only have a month and a half to scramble around and find $$ that I wasn't expecting to spend on this yet? It's the holiday man, I don't like this one bit.

I agree with you Justin. Sorry Brent, but this is really short notice for Epic M customers. It's holiday season and things are tight for most of us. Seems like a short window of opportunity as compared to the other Armor deal where you can opt in for it within the 1st year. It's a lot of money to come up with at short notice. Even Ketch isn't doing this!

Yeah, we revisited that. Feedback from customers was that if they were going to do RED Armor, it was going to be at time of purchase. After that, out of sight, out of mind. They would forget to buy it later in that year. This way, we won't have those "S**t, I forgot to buy RED Armor and my original warranty just expired" situations. Plus, the logistics and bandwidth to get in cameras within original warranty period to eval, offer RED Armor, etc was a lot. Not to mention, the camera coming in for eval means it is not in your hands, shooting. Just tried to make it cleaner and more respectful of your time and our time.

You could always send us an e-mail as a reminder a month or so before the one year period is up. Much like when you notiy us when our back ordered products become available. This is an additional $3000.00 you are asking us to come up with in a very shot amount of time. That's a lot of money. Now I know that this program is optional but still a lot of us are once again taken off guard. I would have loved to be part of the customers you got the feedback from.

LOL...its an extended warranty. I gonna guess you've never purchased one before.

The cost is a no brainer, one repair would cost more than the cost of extending your warranty.

We are adding this to all of our cameras.

Brent,

Will new owners who go through the transfer of ownership process be given the option to armor up, as their cameras will already have been evaled as part of the transfer process?

Apologies if asked and answered already.

Let's take a hypothetical case and try and get a geniune answer.

What would happen if I opt in for Red Armor before my Epic M arrives, and then decide to sell it after 25 months? The first 24 months are carried under the warranty, but if I can't transfer the Red Armor, that means that a further 23 months of extended warranty have been paid for, yet will require no liability on Red's part. Would I get a refund?

Brent,

If I agree to purchase the RED Armor for my EPIC-M, do I have to send back the body for evaluation before the end of this year? I have 2 EPIC-M, one will be sent for repair this week and the other one has been booked until middle of December.
Can you please give some advice regarding this condition? Thanks heaps.

so just to clarify. only EPICX or M original owners can buy RED Armor ever? right? and the 1 year for X and the 2 year for M only applies to the original owner. and once the camera is sold that warranty is gone, and the new owner has no way of getting RED Armor?
