Upcoming Video Shoot - Lens Question

Small budget music video. I was thinking to get a wide angle lens for starters. I was thinking about the Cine DS Rokinon 24mm, then maybe get the 85mm as extra money comes in since the video shoot is about 2 months out. The other option is go with C/Y contax glass. I already have 50MM 1.7 but the wide angle 24mm I think is kind of pricey. I am stumped not sure what to do. Just checking for advice.. I like how the Contax stuff looks though.. Like soft whipped butter.

Contax lenses are amazing. You could get the 18mm contax, around $800...and a great lens. Rokinons are decent for the money, but are much heavier and aren't nearly as organic as the contax are. Contax are all I shoot on now. Loving every minute of it.

The Contax glass is superior to the Rokinon, without a doubt.

Yup!

Personally, I'd recommend getting the Contax 28-85 (mint btw $500-600). For the price it's VERY HARD to beat - even if you were willing to spend considerably more. A bag of primes in one lens.

As long as you can deal with the speed (3.3-f4) and the push pull design (actually great for run n gun), it's a fantastic lens. Super sharp, and has great mehcanics (almost 270 degree focus rotation at all focal lengths, even 28mm...UNHEARD OF for a stills wide angle).

True but I will be doing other stuff with it also. I will be doing music videos for my own personal stuff. I was planning on building a contax zeiss system.. Just this video opportunity came up and it made me move thing along much quicker
