Nice John, any higher rez links? These guys are all off the coast of California right now.

We just saw a few Humbacks in Avila Beach, CA. They were swimming in the harbor, one surfaced his whole head. Seeing whales changes you, and here on the California coast I am proud to say they are protected. Why anyone would want to kill these giants is a wonder.

It's probably hard to describe the feeling being underwater with them, I imaging it's another level than from the pier. Great visibility, where is this?

A new frame grab from HH in Tonga. Using a FF Fisheye.

No, not possible with their internet link. Very, very slow. We're lucky to get this.

Tonga. Judging from the photos I would say vis is 80-100 feet.

To all,

Michael Maes is receiving his DEEP EPIC imminently, and will be engaging this forum for your sage advice. He's keen to start shooting many of his favorite places around Cayman in 5K.

Hi you all,

I'm so thrilled to receive my Epic and Deep Epic.
Can't wait to blow bubbles with it!
Thanks for the introduction John!

Michael

Frazier,
let us know what you discover...my receiver is actually NOT an OTS unit....i have an Explorer mounted on my Epic and then Kirby Morgan mask with all OTS gear...so mabye that is why i don't have a problem? But as you said, topside from the OTS (i think X100?) is pretty good to a record device.

I tested the inline headphone volume control with the OTS buddy phone yesterday straight into Epic, worked perfectly. I plugged in the headphone vol control in and then turned vol to 1/2 and audio levels came in just right. Just short of peaking. Sounded perfect. Very pleased with $8 radio shack solution.

A buddy of mine who I work with is building these. Really well made, thought you guys should know. Has nothing to do with bubble blowing videos and maybe the wrong place to post but they are just great boxes. If you use apple boxes these are even better. He's been building these for a while now, but just launched his site yesterday.

Try this link I think it will work. http://jokerboxes.com/

Hope you don't mind me posting this here for my bubble blowing friends.

Best,
Frazier

Fellow Bubble Blowers,

I just had the extreme privilege of attending a 4K screening of Samsara at the Landmark Theatre in West Los Angeles. I am still high from that buzz, trying to describe my gut reactions, the very visceral and emotional impact of the experience.

Without a doubt, some of the most brilliant, visually arresting, and heart-wrenching cinematographic stuff I have ever seen, any of you who have access to a 4K theatre, please, go see it. These folks are leading the way, by the very longest of shots.

So, how to get that impact in a liquid environment, big challenge, tough act to follow, some here just might be up to it, methinks.

Mark, whatever you do, on that very big project you are about to embark on, preserve those R3D files intact. What I saw today, what JJ has been harping on for so many years, it's all clear to me now.

I can only begin to imagine what things can be done underwater with such techniques.

@Tom the stock from the trip will be locked away in duplicate for future applications. There are some incredible sequences on the shot list if I can pull it off.

Cheers,
Mark.
