  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Two LCDs?

The idea of being able to connect another LCD off the EVF port (which I don't use) appeals to me.

I Know there is a scaling issue with evf/lcd.. but isnt this just a software pathway? or am i totally wrong (more likely) and this is a hardware path.. in which case, there is nothing we can do

Zakaree,

Throughout the development of Red One, many petitions were initially dismissed as "not possible". Today we have most of them implemented and working in an excellent way. So, let's not stop the conversation about this... We never know!!:weight_lift:

The splitter issue, as stated, is about signal strength, control signal and power.

Scaling from the EVF signal I believe could be software but then again there might only be so many scaler engines on board.

Maybe you could split the scaled video signal (hardware) and send it to both ports?

yes.
i want to keep pushing this. has to be possible..
either
a.) external splitter that would attatch via lemo to the back of one of the lcd's...
or...
b.) software option to switch the evf port to send another lcd signal..
if that port is already scaling down to enable the evf resolution.. the software update would just remove any scaling and thus the evf out would send an lcd signal..

I subscribe to this.

It would be really helpful to be able to use two RED LCDs at the same time. For so many reasons...

Unless there's some hardware limitation onboard, it seems like the 1024x600 scale could be pumped to both the EVF and the LCD ports instead of pumping the 1280x848 scale to the EVF port separately from the LCD port.

There'd be just as much scaling going on [as the HD-SDI would still need a 720p scale], just different software pathways.

Right?

There's gotta be a fix to this...

I don't like the viewfinder but I love the LCD. I would most definitely use two LCDs at the same time if RED comes up with a solution. Nothing is impossible.

A Panni SDI monitor is a really solid purchase, and will come in handy for years. I'm all for flexibility, and it would be great to use both RED monitors at once, having a SDI monitor has it's benefits.
