Hi everyone, ready to start a two camera shoot, one mine, one rental. When looking at the SDI feeds they are both very different looking in color temp. I did a factory restore on the rental, switched monitors, looked at the "Look" values, checked the LCD setting....all the same. The touch screen on the rental looks fine, it's just the SDI going to the client monitor which is out of sorts, looking a little on the red side. We haven't shot yet and this morning I'll do a test record to see how they look in RCX, but I'd love to get any suggestions as to what this could be.
Thanks, as always.

Are they both the same firmware version and set to RC3/RG3?

Do the files show a shift also when vieving them in redcine? In spite of white balancing? If it looks a little bit red I would try a callibration of both cameras sensors. Maybe you already done it. I recently produced a concert film where we used my epic plus 4 rented scarlets. Each camera was callibrated three times during the course of the afternoon and evening. I followed the advice of some other reduser member, namely to first having them in record mode for 15 minutes with the fans set manually at 45% for standby and 45% for recording. Then doing the callibration. All cameras were linke to a video mixer board through sdi and the hardly noticeable shift in colors were due only to the different lenses we used – Angenieux Optimo Zoom 17 - 80mm, Angenieux Zoom 25 - 250mm , Arri Alura Zoom 45 - 250mm, Cooke Zoom 25-250 MkIII and Canon CN-E Zoom 14,5-60mm.

I believe every sensor is different on every camera (not just Red). How close they get depends on QC process. I'm afraid black calibration doesn't make every sensor behave the same way perfectly. It will be more apparent if you point your cameras to a white wall. It's just like calibrating two monitors. I calibrate two monitors, but I can never achieve 100 percent accuracy on two different panels. You might not notice it if you have those two cameras' outputs in two different rooms, but you will notice it side by side.

We did black cal on both cameras at the same temps.....different lenses though 24-290 and 25-250......images were different in RCX.

Swap the lenses on the cameras and check again. To me the cameras has been idientical to the eye when shot with two MX cameras.

Are you sure your camera does not have a lut going out to the SDI or such, or that one camera is displaying RAW? Im not sure if it's possible to apply a specific look to the SDI out, are they looking the same in RED cine? Have you them showing on the same monitor or seperate screens. Two screens are never the same.... just saying.
