  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tuesday May 3rd...

On the screen yesterday, I saw the twinkles in the eyes in close-ups in perfect focus, but absolutely no noise artifacts. None whatsoever in the entire presentation, in fact.
Yet in the 2k 5Gb version I downloaded there is visible,( but nice!) texture in the shadows.
I'm wondering what's up with that?

It could be that you don't have the black level, on your display, set to match REDs display. It could also be a display gamma difference between your display and REDs. For example, DCinema defines a gamma of 2.6, which means you come out of black slower than a display gamma of 2.2.

Should you see the shadow detail is a different question all together. :)
 
so exciting to finally make it to RED studios - exactly the atmosphere I expected and was completely blown away by the 700 reel.....finally saw the EPIC in person -a great day topped off by meeting Ted, Tonaci and Ketch.....now I'm just waiting to join the RED family with a Scarlet purchase!

Thank you real name R3D data for that ;-) . So no new Epson projector product or 40 inch digital cinema editibg screen. I think I just got over waiting :-(.

Where are those new consumer shd displays that are susposed to be coming out on the general market (not red related).

For some reason I thought a ballpark of $12K had been floating around on the forum. Looking forward to final specs and pricing on it!
