I have a radian wireless video system. The receiver only has HDMI out. I'm trying to connect it to a Flanders which only has SDI in. I purchased a blackmagic micro hdmi to sdi converter and had trouble getting it to work. Tried to troubleshoot it at the store where I purchased the converter without any luck.

Anyone have success with a similar system and converting the receiver from hdmi to sdi?

Make sure the sdi converter supports the format you are shooting in. A lot will only do tv deliverable formats, not acquisition formats.

I would try another brand of HDMI to SDI Converter, like Decimator MD-LX or Atomos H2S. Although I own many BMD products, I don’t trust them 100%.

HDMI signal contains HDCP handshake. If the converter does not have it the signal won't pass through.

I use the Atomos converters with no problems. However I also have a Flanders and it will not accept the HDMI signal from my Canon cameras. Or If the Flanders is the 2nd monitor in a chain of 2 monitors it wont' accept the signal. No problems with my Panasonic 17".

Using a HDMI to DVI cable/adapter from HDMI camera output to the DVI port on a FSI monitor only works some of the times. I suspect that there are HDMI protocols that the monitor does not recognize as it’s not a true HDMI input. I have had luck with some cameras but not others. So I always convert the signal to SDI with an Atomos H2S or Decimator MD-HX.
