  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Trost Slider GROUP BUY - limited time

We can offer either a complete replacement or an upgrade to the original slider (since the new components are compatible with the original rail). We'll have more details on the upgrade path after we've talked to some current owners.

Rad. great options. We love our slider combo but definitely looking forward to that new Mitchell/100mm Bowl option!

I have to clarify one thing: The actual Trost M-series box will not contain styrofoam peanuts. Bob's did because the production version of the box wasn't ready when we shipped it to him. I mention this because... styrofoam peanuts are the worst.

Ha ha. My wife was so furious! I spent a good hour trying to clean up!

Sorry about that! You'll be the only one to receive that honor. The real box has the slider suspended in mid-air inside the package, with zero peanuts.

Yikes that looks like it would put a lot of torque on the slider. How critical is the balancing of the bowl/head?

The main advantage isn't the ability to level the ball head (although this is very nice). What it really does for you is keep everything extremely low profile. So center of gravity is very low, even with a Miller or OConnor head up top.

There are other bonuses as well, like the ability to shoot directly down without seeing the rail. We'll be talking about all of this a lot more when we release officially.

Ha ha, thanks for not sending any overseas Gabe... :)

As Gabe said, the advantages of this design are many...

Once you actually see and touch, lift, play with and carefully analyze the build of the Trost M-series you'll fast come to realize that there should be no concerne of such...

This thing is built like a TANK... And I mean that, payload capacity is insane, mounting options go also far off what the Mitchell & Bawl adapters offer, but that been the main mounting options is fair to be concern, but don't be, this thing can and will handle anything you can put on that Mitchell Mount, including Jibs etc.

Additionally I'll be showcasing other mounting options directly positioned on the strait top portion of the Carriage right above the Rail itself, this point offers an almost infinite mounting option via any tipe of custom rigging, and this is also a big plus.

This new approach with the feet design now gives far sturdier mounting options of the Slider itself on to any type of support including Tripods, but not just tripods, there is no moving parts, so the mounting will be rock solid when properly done, this will afford the slider to be loaded with far heavier set ups with trusted safety of the gear and operator.

I am just amazed at this Slider, and look forward to showcase it... Preproduction for the next shoot should be done by mid of month and departure set, with shooting starting before end of month, the M-Series is about to go places... :)

Wish we could have another group buy.

What was the final price of this one?

What was the final price of this one?

The Trost M100 will be priced slightly higher than the old Trost 100, but not much. We'll have full info on pricing within the next few days, when we launch. We'd be willing to do another group buy.

Sweet. How is the "M" version different?

It's a complete redesign, based on lots of feedback from folks here. Key features:

- Mitchell carriage standard on every slider
- Leveling 100mm bowl to Mitchell adapter included with every slider
- Mitchell baseplates standard, with built-in 3/8, 1/4, and c-stand support
- Ultra low-profile design for low center of gravity
- Cantilevered carriage - accept any tiedown, no risers necessary, point camera straight down.
- Ultra compact - weighs 17lbs, supports 560lbs
- Combine Trost M sliders for 2-axis setups
- Mitchell with removeable/stowable key for easy rotation on a Mitchell mount
- Easy underslung configuration

Hey Gabe, in regards to the upgrade path mentioned has there been any new developments
on either how this will work or pricing? I'm on pins waiting for news.
I paid a lot for this and I'm really keen on getting the new offset carriage with ball adapter
but don't want to lose too much money on what I've already spent.

I'm also based in the UK and it would be so much easier for me to remove the carriages to
send back to you (if that's how it works) than send back the entire slider.

Also at what point will you offer the upgrade path?

Help out us early adopters ;)

We'll be announcing the upgrade path when we launch, but it will be very reasonable and we'll provide a few different options. We may be able to just have you send in your carriage to save on shippings costs - I'll find out. The plan all along has been to take care of everyone who jumped in early, so that's what we're going to do.

One more question, Gabe, if you can answer it.
Will priority be given for early adopters or at least a comfortable timeframe for upgrade?
I guess my concern is not seeing any upgrades go through until well into next year.
I'd be over the moon if I could see something late December - early Jan.

Also when is the launch day?

We're going to begin upgrades right after launch. We don't yet know how many people will opt for an upgrade, so we don't know how long it will take to turn them all around. We'll know more soon.

Launch is planned for this week.

Does the new model still support a flat mount? For example I have a RRS fluid head that I would like to mount.

You can either drop a half bowl into the supplied 100mm bowl, which actually is nice since you can then adjust your level, or you can attach the same puck as before with the 3/8" thread on the flat part of the carriage.
