This is a trailer segment for a movie that doesn't exist.

We shot it last night and I put it together this afternoon.

We just like to get together and shoot whatever crosses our mind.

This is the tale of a mentally unbalanced clone that injects human blood in an attempt to purify himself. :scared:

Would love to hear comments but please have mercy, we just get together and have fun for a few hours. :biggrin5:

Jim

Now I understand why you could not sleep last night:yikes:

LOL

Nice cutting job, BTW.

Thanks for the repiles! It was a lot of fun and my trusty seven jib got a workout.

Good to see you as always Pawel!

Thanks Jaime and Jonathan. I rotated the opening shot in After Effects. Shot 11mm @4k to have a nice big wide frame so I could spin 360 degrees without touching the sides.

Just playing with techniques and having some fun. It's great to shoot just for the sake of it once in a while!

Cheers,

Jim

Funny thing is I would never go to see this movie in 1000 years! But fun to shoot.

My friend Craig got the syringe at a garage sale, beautiful old thing!

Thanks all.

@ Alex - I would be too scared to see what happens next! Not my kind of movie! :emote_couch:

@ Tom - Cheers, "jump in and see what happens" is my favorite form of expression :willy_nilly:

@ Scotty - I love that stairwell. I was over at his place one day and knew I had to shoot it. I have some other amazing takes that are completely different, but I thought this one captured it.

@ Pietro - I only used the kino for a bit of fill on one shot. It's really funny but I've noticed that I gravitate towards these cheap fluro soft boxes that cost me $400 for 3, including bulbs! I also love my Brute 9 LEDs, they are my workhorses.

No added grain. I used noise reduction on the stairs and vile breaking. I thought it mudded it up nicely. Any other grain is camera noise. Nice that it can pass as grain!

But you mostly used soft sources? I'll check again with a closer eye.

The noise/grain was quite nice in the 0:15 feet close-up. Definitely added mood to the image.

Yes, mainly soft. The fluros are all soft and I keep a diffuser on one brute and leave the other hard. Used the non-diffused brute to create the shadowy feet part.

Yes, that grain is camera noise pushed hard in rocket cine x.

Just had another look to see which bit you were referring to with the grain.

Yes, this is Red noise crunched up tightly in rocket cine x. Most of the time I embrace Red noise. There are only a few shots that I choose to apply noise reduction (the stair shot is one) where it makes it look scratchy and ugly rather than grainy.

I think the noise reduction on the stair shot gave it its own ethereal quality that I really like.

Can't wait for Epic, that will change everything! :001_tongue:

You shouldn't be ashamed to embrace it.
In certain conditions RED noise definitely seems organic.

It's funny that when we come to say, Monstro-X, we may need some serious graining plugins if we that in our footage. But ones that really form the image in grains and don't just add a silly overlay. Images will be so clean even when we don't want them to be.

Sure thing Milan. It's H.264, 1280x720 @ 2500Kb/s. AAC .192 Kb/s for audio.

Could probably go as low as 1200 for video but I was happy with the file size.

The new version of Compressor has a great feature for this. Just find a QuickTime movie you like the settings of and just drag it to the settings area. It will pick them up and use them for your file!
