I am a proud owner of an EPIC-X with the original MX sensor and a 5.0 touch screen.

Ever since i installed firmware V6.0.28, the 5.0 touch screen stopped working properly. When i say "ever since" i literally mean that the moment the camera booted from the firmware upgrade the touchscreen was not working.

Other users posted the same issue after the firmware upgrade but we were ignored and no official answer was given till now (Or i missed it).

I have to do a REDISCOVER procedure for the touch screen to start working again. Sometimes it takes 2 REDISCOVER procedures one after the other for it to work. Then, it might work for a few hours before it stops again.

The problem was not addressed with firmware V6.0.31, V6.0.35 or V6.0.37 and this is starting to be a real pain.

Is RED working on this issue?? Does RED even know this issue exists?

Please help!

There is video feedback but the touch capability is not working. The camera operates fine though. I can still navigate menus with the side handle.

A Rediscover reboot usually fixes it for a few hours.

After the 6.0.28 firmware was released, i posted this issue on one of the recon threads after seen that others had the same problem. No solution yet.

Are you using the camera with a pl mount or ef mount?...I have same issue but only with the pl mount.

Canon mount. I have not used the PL mount since the problem started.

Have you filed a support ticket and sent in a log file?

If i was the only one having this problem i would have definitely filed a support ticket. The thing is... i thought this was a known issue.

The camera and the touch screen are working perfectly fine after i initiate a REDISCOVER. It just doesn't last for long.

The problem started the exact moment the camera booted from the mentioned firmware. There was nothing wrong 10 minutes before that with the touch screen. It is 99.99% a firmware problem.

When in doubt, file a support ticket. While many of us at RED are good at mining info, it is much more effecient to get things on sustaining engineering's radar with a ticket.
