  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

TOTAL RECALL shoots EPIC

This is a sequel that I'm really looking forward to, even so usually I really dislike sequels with completely different caracthers, but it has been a while since Arnold's Total Recall, so its cool, and this looks way COOLER, technology of course does help... ;)

I thought this was a remake? Not a sequel.

This is great news. Going to be so much better than the first film!

Another congrats RED team!

I hardly believe that. no one can beat paul verhoeven's 90s trash! it will probably look much better, though.

Shooting has just commenced at Shepperton on Warner Bros sequel to Clash of the Titans, with 4K involved despite the majority of the film reverting to 2D 35 mm lensed by Ben Davis.

Natalie Theobald is running the DIT and on set grading aspects of two RED Epics attached to main unit, the first to be used in anger in the UK. "Natalie’s contribution is invaluable. She’s an absolute godsend", says 2nd Unit Production Manager Russell Lodge overseeing the digital side of the production.

That's where pink slime comes from... ;)

Anyway. As great as the new Total Recall looks in a visual sense, my 'turkey-meter' is peaking at a 9.5 when I watch the trailer.... I was hoping it would be more true to PKD's novel, but this one seems much further removed. No Mars? Meh... Looks like it suffers from VFX-overload-itis. Also known as the Star Wars Prequel Syndrome. That's where you take a crap story and just put as much shit as you possibly can into every shot so it seems like something is actually happening.

I'll go see it. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm thinking that Verhoven's '90s cheese-fest is the better movie. :/

Douglas Quail never made it to Mars in the original short story. It was Quail's desire to go to Mars without being able to afford it that made him seek out Rekal in the first place - but he never actually left Earth, unlike the Verhoeven film which didn't really stick to Dick's story much. And if we're going to talk about VFX overload - that film was singled out at the Oscars, no nomination, just a special achievement Oscar for VFX.

I'm reserving judgment of this one until I see it. I have my reservations, but we'll see.

As well as the lack of Rob Bottin goodness.

Yeah, you're right, but then again that was just the short Story. I was getting confused between it and Anthony's novel -- which was written in conjunction with the 1990 film/ screenplay. Either way, Quaid's desire to see Mars, among other things, was the primary motivator in the original short story and the subsequent novel and film.

I'm reserving judgment of this one until I see it.

I'm trying to, but this trailer is making it really hard to do so.

On the bright side, the visuals look amazing and I can ogle at Beckinsale and Biel for 2 hours. ;)

I quite like the look of the new one...

But the original is still a guilty pleasure.

The trailer comparison was pretty good - love the Fifth Element ref - but the look of the vehicles/cityscape/soldiers is more of a Minority Report & IRobot mash up (IMO).

So new Total Recall = Old Total Recall + Minority Report + IRobot + Fifth Element... wonder what else is in the formula? LOL

Still looking forwards to seeing it... guess that makes me sad :)

I was at first hesitant about this movie. But am starting to be a bit more excited about it as time goes on. I think they could possibly do some interesting things with it.
I guess only time will tell. I saw this comparison to the original thought I'd share.

Love that trailer comparison - thanks for sharing. But I gotta say the original looks like it was lit really flat compared to the new one.
The look has improved IMO, even if the story may not have.

Supposedly thematically closer to the original material. Child of the 80's and fan of the original, but I've got high hopes for this one. Plus Jessica Biel is legendary hot.
