Top Plate Weight Limit

Is there any documentation on how much weight can be safely carried off the top mounts of the Komodo?

I've got the Tilta top plate and I'm worried about it holding up with an Easy Rig or hand held with a top handle.

I'm currently running Zeiss Otus Lenses, Tilta MB-T12, Nucleus-M, V-Mount batteries, Ninja V, etc.

Will it hold? Will I slowly and painfully kill my Komodo under the pain of strain? What would the limits be?

Without going hardcore nerd on this, you have 4 variables:
- Komodo Body Strength (Magnesium/Aluminum Alloy)
- Komodo's Steel Helicoid insert Strength
- The strength of the accessory and material type, often Aluminum
- The strength of the bolt and material of the bolt

To what you describe, yes that will hold easily.

I've seen some mangled cameras in my time, mainly from other's filming extreme action with difficult terrain. Think "camera car w/ Russian Arm thrusted into the earth". That can potentially open your camera up like a can depending on the forces at play. In most other situations, your helicoids go first if you are doing anything crazy and that's why they are replaceable. In some situations your accessories might use a cheap grade of materials and can warp or even tear.

But to your original question as well as what you are rigging there Nick. You aren't even close to destroying your camera yet with the kit you describe

To be careful though, I see a lot of people on line stabilizers whack walls and stuff by just catching the lens on it. That is a bigger concern for the lens and lens mount for those who are clumsy.

+1 to Phil's remarks Also rarely is static force gonna damage this stuff (just the weight of the cam/lens/etc @ 1G) if you're gonna throw this thing around you might consider putting the stress on the sides... those Otus lenses are tanks (I use them with the komodo too:encouragement I know before any AKS were available I screwed eyelets into the Timmy ribs and created a loop with paracord for my Easyrig
