1.5 hr to go. Adrenaline starting to pump. Heading to the box to do some good crossfit 30 minutes past announcement.
Might as well bring my credit card with me and keep refreshing the mobile browser. :)

Something tells me your workout might be a tad impeded...

Jim, maybe in future having a seperate order server and pages known ahead of time, that activates an hour or so after the announcement to give people a chance to digest the announcement then line up orderly, even to register a ticket for server access for when it does open. As people crowding in and hitting refresh etc continually may give you more chance to get a page up, but acts as a denial of service attack when thousands of people do it.

Well, one could place a product in an amazon shop timely and they cope with servers. They can surely handle any amount of interest (they do it all the time anyway).

But I hope they prepared everything and it won't crash the servers...

PS: We hope for a live transmission dino birth here... ;-)

I actually came up with a great solution.

Have an announcement order page that auto updates with the announcement, probably by push (Jim was 5 min late by post, and took.me 20 minutes to even load a page, which means no way getting a number one in que if I could tell it was a great product for me :( ).

With that you minimise all your server interactions, as no page loading, refreshing, and searching is required past the initial page and the push announcement.
