Did you see the EPIC? If not, go to http://vimeo.com/10940788 The EPIC is the key which unlocks your Scarlet.

I am personally getting tired of the "Hurry up and make the Scarlet". With yesterday's news and with the Epic/Scarlet program finally running smoothly, we really ought to be congratulating Jim and Co. for EPIC's birth...not begging for Scarlet. You ought to have been making money with another camera for the last two years instead of waiting/begging.

You may think I am saying this because I admire RED, but the image on this M-X sensor is truly remarkable (that's without counting in the formfactor for a 5K imager shooting at 100fps..)

Now you can yell at me and tell me how RED said that the Scarlet would be available a long time ago. That will be my cue to say "Yes, they projected a few dates and goals with every post, accompanied is:

Specifications, prices and delivery dates are subject to change. Count on it.

Waiting for an Scarlet S35 has taught me patience and given me much more time to save, and write some scripts worthy of the camera. It'll come when its ready, and I'm certainly not going to be angry at a company for not prematurly rushing out a product

I'm a huge fan of Red too and I am very excited for these cameras too, but come on. We're more than a year past the point that it became okay to be frustrated with the delays.

Nothing wrong with being honest; I'm sure Red is frustrated with the delays too.

Agreed. And progress on the Epic cam automatically means progress on all Scarlet cams, since they all share the same modules, etc.

Showing Epic in Jarred's hands is not fair. It makes it look really small but I'm sure he must have hands twice as large as normal people. :001_tongue:
(actually I'm 6'4" so not that small, but I'm sure he's still bigger than me!)

I was always under the impression the Epic program had to be finished before Scarlet can fully exist. It would be working backwards if they built a lower model and than tried to build a model better than that. Much easier to build a top grade model and then just build a lower grade model based on the higher grade model. Makes it easier to gauge what materials you'll need, and a lot easier on the engineering department.

I never knew Jarred was a giant. Learn knew things everyday...

Maybe this is better...

Get a smaller lens if you wanted, and you have a baby...

Yeah I agree we need to just be supportive of RED and all they are doing for us, obviously this is not an easy task. It'll be here soon enough! Hey Joseph did they say any release dates on the Gunner? Is it in production yet?

Delivery and specs guaranteed to change. However, waiting 2 years for a product can turn people off. When can I get my Kinetta? Oh, yeah... Finally got a RED ONE, but after Oct 30th so I don't get any of the goodies on trade in.

There were so many things I asked about release dates, I wish I could remember. I want to say May-June, but I might be thinking something else. :out:

Regarding release dates on accessories, I got the impression that everything will be out when EPIC is out, however, I also got a lot of "It's ready when it's ready...". I will say that the Gunner, which I was unsure about prior to Vegas, is actually pretty awesome.

The new shoulder mount is the awesomest though. You can go hands free in between takes to easily control the redmote...meaning you don't have to take it off to access all of the different settings if you are a one man band.

Photos like those three above will go down a storm at cinematography.com, I'm sure. Fuel for their fires, so to speak.
