  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

TO Red test

Thanks David - I just asked Garth Hagey (lucky Red #98) if he had a MacPro. Is this the only thing that will run Redcine at first? Re. FCP I don't expect it to support Redcode for several months yet - so Redcine will likely be essential at first.

Alex

PS - the web hosting / design sounds fantastic. I only know how to upload files to an ftp site!

Nobody has announced when FCP will be RED ready
It already is? Since they cut Crossing the Line on FCP. It's just that the other integration is not there.

I think the FCP user's group would be interested in seeing some footage from the camera... perhaps the camera test, or the prores version of CTL.

2- I'd be interested in helping out.

Hi Alex, fantastic ideas, it will be a great intro for RED to the City.
I have a Quad MacPro we can use at the shoot.

Hi Gregor

Hi Gregor

I would love to be around when you test it.
Give me a heads up when you do.

thx

Ian (Hannah)

Thanks

Thanks

Morning and I would like to thank everyone who helped out last week for the Toronto Red Test. Special thanks to Penny and Alan of PS for their tremendous support. Also thanks to Ken, Robin, Ryan, Darlene, David, Ian, Sean, Phil, Michael, Mike, Glen, Derek, Greg, Alex, Dean, Brian, Kevin, Ting, Dax, Jeff, Shanger, DJ Woods, DSC Labs, Technicolor and of course Rob for writing a cool little script and directing it for us and Barb and Duane for acting in it.

I didn't get to do all the tests that I had hoped but I will post something as soon as I get a day off set.

Some quick observations are that this is a very sophisticated camera and it will take time to master not only the menu settings and post work flow, but also the many ways to configure the camera for different shooting needs. The camera is heavier then it looks, but if you're used to film cameras it's not that heavy. Red is a hybrid and offers the advantages of both film and video.

I'd like to thank the team at Red for their amazing customer support. I was put on the right path at the last Red Day, but their's only so much you can absorb in one day (I hope I get an excuse to go Cali again soon so I can visit all the cool people in Lake Forest - if only for the rb+v). Ultimately though the best way to learn is to work with the camera as much as possible. I have to say that for a camera that's still Beta it works really, really well.

Above all I think the best thing about this camera is that it makes people really excited about filmmaking.

Congrats on the great work Gregor and Morning. I appreciated the chance to get up close and personal with the camera and the RED workflow. I doubly appreciated the contribution you guys and #98 made to RED-Meet 03. Seriously looking forward to seeing some of that amazing footy at RED-Meet 04 if possible.

footy ?

Also, i'm curious as to toronto peeps experience in shooting outside, especially since it's nice and cool. :)

I couldn't make the last few gatherings, but if we're not in Ireland (feature), i'd like to meet my fellow Toronto red users. Jerk chicken is on me, hehe.

Stay tuned G, announcement shortly on RED-MEET 04, with some footy on the big screen.

PS. Better watch out on that offer, cause I looove me some good Jerk!

Very nice reporting Gregor, thanks for the link.

I'm loving the clean look of your site.

Thank you for all your work! It is very impressive that you posted a 1 GB .R3D file. That is larger than the other 3 R3D files put up so far combined! It took me a while to download. Let me know if it's ok to add it to my Red mirror page, attributed of course. http://www.bealecorner.org/red
