Hi, everybody, so I've been looking at some nice PL cine lens options while waiting for VFX to render and I noticed that really aside from the oddly "occasional" 135mm by comparison, we're missing anything beyond that in the telephoto range! Looking at some of the rehousing scenes there's clearly a need for cinema-style telephoto lenses, even a nice bump to 180mm or 200mm would be helpful and RED even had their 300mm to start back in the day so where are the cine telephoto lenses to go along with the rest of our lens sets? A nice Rokinon 200mm and 300mm F2 or 2.8 would be pretty cool to add to my Cine DS set and just the introduction of such innovations should bring some healthy competition to the scene as well. There's just so many wide angle and standard angle options that it's just odd that nobody has even tried for long telephoto lenses yet.

Longer than 135mm telephoto, modern cinema glass.

- IRIX 150mm T3 (macro and normal versions)
- Tokina Cinema Vista 180mm T1.9
- Angenieux Optimo Primo 200mm T2.2
- Leitz 180mm T2
- Leitz 350mm T3.6
- Leitz Elsie 150mm T2.1
- Arri Signature 150mm T1.8
- Arri Signature 200mm T2.5
- Zeiss Supreme 150mm T1.8
- Zeiss Supreme 200mm T2.2

There are numerous cinema zooms that go beyond 180mm as well.

One major player I wouldn't mind jumping into this space is Sigma. I can DZO in particular doing something prime related.

Super telephoto beyond 200mm is a fairly niche market for motion picture work and it would be nice in particular to have modern 300+mm solutions. But for those determined enough, there are. Though fairly costly depending on the direction chosen.

Now the Irix sounds like what I would expect to see, especially from someone like Laowa since they like their macros, so it's nice Irix put something out in that range already and beat Rokinon, Samyang, Laowa, etc. to the punch so to speak. The other lenses you listed are much more expensive and some even more than a few of the converted and legacy options! Something along the Irix level is what I'm talking about and while it might be niche there's still a need for times when you need it, so many American Cinematographer issues talk about needing long lenses for some occasion or another, if nothing else cinematographers have to be brave and step out of the norm every now and then too! :)
