  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Titanium PL mount on 8K Weapon

Does the Titanium PL mount work with 8K Weapon? Similarly if anyone here has used the new Magnesium PL mount with 8K Weapon?

While it mounts fine, there will be a new 8K PL Mount for 8K Weapon when it happens.

Don't know the details, but the new MG PL Mount for instance has a 6K label on it. The 8K has 8K on it and has a slightly different flocking design and window to accommodate the larger sensor.

Details on how the mount upgrade/swap/purchase have not be revealed. And we don't know exactly what the news is with the 8K OLPFs either. Other than that the Canon Mount works fine. Don't know about Nikon, but I image the Leica Mount works too.

Is this still true? The 8k upgrade in the red store is indicating an included "MG PL Mount 2.0" that, when clicked on, shows compatibility with Epic/Scarlet Dragon. Seems like the same old 2.0 mount?

The mount is different but the size and screw holes and all that are the same, as are the electrical connections....just a different design...I have all of them and they all work.

So, wait... There are two versions of the MG PL Mount 2.0 (6k & 8k, as phil indicated above), and both of them work on an 8k camera?

(To say nothing of the Ti PL mount, which is what I actually own, and is shown as compatible with both 6k & 8k as well.)

There are two versions of the Mg PL mount...one just like your Ti mount, except Mg, and the newer 2.0 version also Mg. The number of Ks at this point has nothing to do with it. I think that in that old post, Phil was referring to a new PL mount for the VV 8K camera....

I've heard that the Mg PL Mount 2.0 will work with Helium 8k sensors, they are both super35. orginially the markings was to delineate between the PL mount for 6k and VistaVision 8k,

The original 8K PL mount referred to VISTA VISION - it's just physically a much BIGGER sensor (though also 8K), and therefore requires an all new PL mount to accommodate this girth.

Helium 8K is has same sensor size as Dragon 6K, so the previous PL mounts all work fine.
