  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"TimeScapes" and Light Iron

Once its out, maybe someone could arrange this for the LA area (Tom, I dunno how you go about getting your stuff into their library)

The founder of tugg Nick Gonda is a friend, so I think that yes, my film will probably be included in tugg. I'm getting pretty excited about tugg, actually. Hoping that films like Baraka and Samsara and Godrey's films will be part of tugg as well.

It's also really cool that most of the tugg partners, Regal, Cinemark, AMC, etc, are all rapidly converting to 4K.

First day at Light Iron. Working on the conform. Paul, Mike, Ian and Matt have all made me feel at home, and everyone seems genuinely stoked on this project.

I'm so excited about this color grade. Light Iron is conforming the entire film on the Pablo system at 4K, 16 bit. They also have a theater now with a Barco 4K projector!!! This is gonna be awesome.

Excellent! I smell a great collaborative effort ahead for sure with Light Iron and Timescapes!

Congrats Tom! Must be kind of weird sitting in a grading suite after years of shooting outdoors in all kinds of crazy conditions. Excited for you and the project. My only regret is that I don't live in LA, so I can't pop on over and hang out with you guys and watch Ian work his magic.

So excited to have Timescapes @ Light Iron!!!

Tom's footage is truly mind-bending at 4K on the big screen!!

So I believe Matt is nearly finished with the conform, and we have had no major issues so far bringing in a 4K Premiere Pro CS5.5 project with a mixture of R3D, Cineform 4K 4:4:4 renders, and a handful of 10-bit DPX renders into the Pablo at 16-bit 4K.

We start the grade on Monday and move into the 4K theater on Thursday where the Barco 4K projector is. :w00t:

Just want to congratulate you, Tom, on this project and on your incredible artistry. Though I've been a member here for a while, I had been mostly absent from the forum until recently, when I became aware of your highly inspirational work. I just pre-ordered the special edition bluray from your site. Best of luck.:-)

I wonder how many constellations you'll be able to count when displayed at 4K.

Anyhow, if it's true you would premiere your film at the Reduser party, that alone is worth the trip to Vegas.

Ordered the big ol downloadable version a few weeks back. So stoked!

We are not showing the film at the Red party that Sunday at NAB. We are doing a big event Apr 17th at the Palms.

Just wrapped our first day of this week-long 4K DI. Things are going exceedingly well. I'm just amazed at what Ian is able to do working in a 16-bit environment. I'm gonna bet that 16-bit 4K DIs will become more and more common.

The Adobe Premiere team, including Dave McGavran, visited LI today, and they dropped by suite 2 to see me and Ian. We were able to play them a few minutes of the movie, and they all seemed pretty stoked on what we were doing.

A good first day!

We put 100 tickets up for sale today online, and they sold out in a few hours. So no more tix left for Vegas.

But I'm working on arranging some screenings soon in LA, SF and NYC, at a minimum, all in 4K.

Bummer. Bring it to Toronto!
