Hey Guys

I was wondering if any of you experienced this kind of problem. Few months back I realized that my "water" on tripods somehow doesnt work. I first blamed it on, camera plate, rig and even tripod. After checking on many other gear types I managed to check the chip itself, and I found that it is tilted a tiny bit to one side. ( It might have happend during one unhappy red drop from technicians hands to car trunk a year ago:-/ )

Here are pictures of the issue.

I am planning to contact red with it but just wanted to check in advance if anybody had same issue.

Thank you

Juraj

Temporary fix, but try to level your camera with in-camera digital level. You can set it up under >maintenance>calibration>sensors.

Then you can use your on-camera level for horizon, and your tripod's bubble level for head tilt. Still, it will be awkward to work with.

That would work until you start to pan around...

Side note: I really wish somebody made a red quick plate that was 100% centered and same every time mounted. All needed would be two screws with cone shaped heads and slightly modification on the base plate so it also had cone shaped holes. As of now when mounting the plate to the camera it´s like you line it up by eye... even difficult to get it straight enough so long zooms does not scratch the inside of the matte box and such. And for moco work it´s impossible to make the same move after removing the plate.

But yes important also that the sensor is seated straight. :)

Sounds like your sensor needs to be re-aligned. They do move over time especially if your camera gets dropped.

RED can do this for you. I had mine done in RED Pinewood for S3D and I think it was about £250 excluding VAT.

Yikes, that doesn't look good. I'd send it in if you can. Keep us updated on the cost as well..
