TILTA 70-200 (canon rehoused) In October, under $4000
TILTA 80-200 (Nikon rehoused) In October, under $5000

Interesting indeed. I wonder how much they breathe.

Interesting indeed. I wonder how much they breathe.

I've used literally all of the 70,80-200mm still lenses on the market at this point. The only one I would say breathes very little is the Zeiss CZ 70-200 T2.9. Different price bracket all together.

Breathing within most of these designs is pretty much unavoidable.

What really, really bugs me is that some of these designs exhibit image shift while focusing. And believe me at 200mm that drives me nuts. That's where a good rehousing will show it's worth. I'm a picky fellow and breathing and shift are annoying, shift being the thing I really don't want. I can live with a little breathing, although I purchased some primes specifically for their lack of breathing recently.

I will say though, this is a heck of a deal and hard to ignore. Whoever figures out how to get a 24-70 in a housing though.... That's gonna be good.

Would be great if they kept the IS though. Is there any licencing for IS protocol for PL mount? COmplete lens design idiot
here.

I was very, very impressed with the canon 24/70 II, but between this one and the Tamron with IS, I am not sure what would I want more in a PL enclosure.

To put IS in a PL mount lens would require planning the routing of the IS interface through the PL mount... and finding a place in the focus mechanishm to add the IS... which I think would fight you on a focus pull..
Can't remember which B4 2/3" chip suitable lenses had good IS... but that would be a sort of test bed design wise..
I remember a standalone IS unit for 16mm cameras back in the 1980s.. I think Arri/Zeiss built it... a massive front of lens attachement with floating prisms, IIRC...

At 0:32 you can see the front objective is greased and dirty, not a very good first impression.

Hummm, and yup' she did mention 80-200mm designed by Taiwan base company.
And you can plainly see the engraved Allstar logo in the video. But at the Tilta quoted price of about $5000 USD, you have to wonder what their added value is, since Allstar is currently selling the lens for $2800 USD. Maybe Allstar is planning to get out of the direct retail sales part of the business? I know from talking with Tom that he would rather spend his time designing and manufacturing new products.

I really don`t know what`s happened on BIRTV. I don`t think Tilta want to sell my lens.
And I have no idea why she said the price of my lens is $5000, maybe that can highlights the price of their lens.

Thats a shady way to sell their 70-200 by claiming the 80-200 costs 5K. Tilta... what are you up to????

How about the engraving on that other lens?

Nothing Like some good old zoom Lenres?

VAXIS XT LENRES

With such attention to detail on the engravings you know the optics will be well taken care of...

The 80-200 lens business seems very shady. Showing Tom's lens and quoting a much higher price, and without Tom's knowledge, that just lost all my interest. Tom is an incredibly stand up guy, fantastic products. Dealt with him on many occasions and love the A mount to death!
But c'mon Tilta, you've got to take this a little more seriously, we are not idiots here!

Not cool to sell nearly double the price when one can buy from Tom directly.
