  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thread Davinci Resolve 17

Is that 5x faster than running v17.0 on AS hardware, or 5x faster than running on x86?

If someone gets a $1k MBAir and it can playback 8k 5:1 full debayer, that would admittedly be a big deal.

It’s a comparison of how new hardware is versus last generation hardware. So 2020 Mac Mini M1 vs 2018 Mac Mini for example. You need 17.1 for running on Mac M1 hardware.

Please read the PR again.. it's up to 5x faster that the previous hardware generation.. Thats not 5x faster for everything, nor better for every scenario for every machine.
We have measured and many things are 3-5 times faster, some not. thus up to 5x.

Thanks Peter. I presumed it wasn’t across the board, but just wanted as much clarity as possible.

3x~5x faster than, say, a 2019 MBP 13” with Quadcore i5 2.0Ghz is definitely decent, especially if the $1k MBA M1 nets the same performance.

...Now how about that 8k 5:1 full-debayer real-time r3dcode playback at speed?

Thanks Rohit and Peter for chiming in!

Joel,

I've seen a couple of those videos showing how to run multiple versions of Resolve before. Although I have never tried doing as they suggest, I personally think it would still be best to wait like you have been. Or, atleast use a different computer to audition the newer betas.

Forgive my ignorance; I haven't gotten the beta because I'm mid-project (but obviously curious enough to ask)... Does colour warper have a colour picker?

Those "keys" seem to be pretty exact (or are you doing major tweaking of the selection in those examples)? None of them seem to fringe or bleed (are they uncompressed raw camera stills?)

Mike,

I have had some experience using something similar to Color Warper in 3DLUT Creator. These photos are just images I found on the internet to play around with. The Color Warper has a "range" selector but it never really gives you an actual accurate range. The key is isolate the exact range of hues that make up a specific color then you can basically change that color to any other color.

Color Warper is similar to other "Vector" based color correctors that can be found in 3DLUT creator, Assimilate Scratch and others. They allow for a more high quality color correction/replacement than I believe qualifying, RGB curves and Hue Vs Hue curves can, IMHO. However, you'll have to try it out and see if you think it can be useful to you.
