  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thoughts and Tips responses here...

Would it be possible to get a precise date for the new FLUT thing for PC, as the new Redcine-X beta version is Mac only ?

Who is really in charge of the Red Adobe plugin ? Red or Adobe ? Would it be possible to have a date for the release of this plugin with the new FLUT ?

After playing around for about 5 minutes I am very impressed and will be busy for the next 5 hours. haha
 
REDCINE-X is starting grow into a serious bad ass app.

Next features I would LOVE to see:

#1: split screen two shots - pick a reference shot (this could be a R3D WITH a previous grade) - split screen with the shot you are grading

#2: audio timeline - multi-track - visible waveform option

#3: chapter markers with ability to name them. Quicktime X has a cool feature to preview all chapters in a quicktime in one window.

I tried one a few months ago and it would totally mess up RedCine-X - it played normally for about a third of the time, and then all the video and the histogram would just go grey and the only way I could fix it was to restart the program. I assumed it had become corrupted when I downloaded it but maybe the files are actually broken...
 
LOVING the new RedCine-X. So much more responsive, flexible, and frankly usable than the old stuff. Haven't put it through an exhaustive test yet, but I just wanted to come on and put my two thumbs up for this one. So very happy.

This is just what we needed, hopefully the list will grow and grow.

It would be great if it got to the stage where I could point the DPs or ACs who are new to the "RED Experience" prior to testing/shooting to this link, and gain an invaluable overview of how to use your great camera system. Reduser as awesome as it is can be a bit of a haystack for newcomers and busy DPs/ACs.

OK, So i've been playing with the new REDCINE for 4 hours and i have to say that i am as excited about the new REDCOLOR+REDgamma+FLUT control as i am about the M-X upgrade!

Graeme you did it! The results i am getting with this new way from my recent and older footage are UNBELIEVABLE!! It's genious!!

Please tell me that a new SDK is on it's way to 3rd party developers! I need it on Sony Vegas and Eyeon Fusion NOW! :thumbup:

I'm not even able to open the .R3D files. Each time it wants to not only open up in RedAlert (ad default) but that won't even work. Says something about file can't be viewed in this format: or something like that.

I don't know much about that but it happened to me too.
So you have to make sure the quick time proxies are in the same folder with the R3D file.
That worked for me.

Am I the only one with a problem ... the app runs, but once I stick an R3D file on the time line it runs WAYYYYYYYYY slow. It seems to recognise the fact that a REDROCKET is installed, but it's soooooo slow to use (as it renders in background ... once the orange 'progress line' is complete, it returns back to being usable (until some property changes forcing a re-render)).

Managed to get some output from it and it's very nice.

Anybody else experiencing this and figured a way round ??? would like to hear back ASAP ! ... as the output quality 'and control' provided is very nice, now.

It's like a new RED1 has arrived (once again).
 
Regarding the RED Drive... has anyone tried to rig a "shock bag" over it for loud live music? Maybe fashion it out of foam rubber and dynamat?

Just a thought.

I'm so happy to see Graeme getting the love.... He had me at G-S Curve years ago when I struggled to get a decent look with Sony Z1's.... Nice to know he's still got my back!

Question... and sorry if this is posted somewhere else... but, is/would it be possible to have RAW view on the "on camera" LCD and have Loaded look on a external HDMI monitor at the same time?
 
Good idea to set out info like this...

Personally, I would separate it even further... one thread for product launches, software updates etc (unchangeable news)... one thread for renders, updates, schedules (changeable news).

This would give people who don't have much time a place to quickly get clued up on what is already out there and what is expected, without getting confused between the two.
