  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

This is what the Red resale market has become?

Then there is the Carbon Fiber queue, which was said to have priority for future product purchases. That may be useful, depending...

50% for a quick sale is reasonable - however if they are in REALLY good condition... Like MINT... Then I understand wanting a higher price. But I see VERY well used items for sale at prices that boggle the mind. If we could all buy equipment and use the hell out it and then sell it for 70% to 80% of its value I would never rent.
 
As i recall, my M's were only Machined (hence M) and of course M buyers got them first and later priority for other purchases....but i don't believe they have any value beyond that of an X camera after they are sold by the original purchaser---i don't think any priority deals are passed on to the 2nd owners....
 
All I know i when we bought our M it brought in more than twice it's costs before there was any X cameras around. Same thing when upgrading to Dragon the upgrade cost was covered long before the X dragon was out... Also I know now with all the booking requests I had that I could have paid of at least 2 carbon dragons if I bought them right when they came out... So with that said I know at least for our part. Jumping on the RED train as quick as possible has always been the best option. I also know that pretty much everyone that got in line early for a RED ONE made a bundle on those cameras and the same thing when they upgraded them to MX. It's simply supply and demand and the demand is extremely high in the beginning as people curiosity is up and there is a shortage of supply. And I think red has played it quite fair and well. People that really want the camera even before the upgrades and so on could simply cash out and get the M. I doubt the M's are even done any different from the X. Just as I think the extra cost for the Carbon manufacturing is very slim and not at all reflected in the large difference in price. But it gives both red and their clients a good price differentiation. All in all they cover everything from the quite low priced scarlet up to the quite expansive epic dragon carbon without having to deal with to much differentiations in the production lines. If you compare that to Sony for example they have a line up of completely different cameras from the F65 and down and it for sure brings up costs and cause both them and their users problems when jumping between cameras etc.

Personally I love the fact that I can have our Epic dragon and I constantly extend the number of accessories and for the times I need a B cam I can rent just a second body, scarlet, epic or dragon and they all plays perfect with all the stuff I all ready have. Just put the EVF and side handle on one camera and the touch and XL module on the other and I instantly got two cameras working.
