  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Third Anniversary...

Congratulations and happy holidays to all the workers at Red HQ, who give an excellent service every time i needed them.

I remember the first version of www.red.com (the first time Jim play to tease people exactly) 3 years ago. A plain web page with a dragster with 4K written on top of the image.

Things never change i guess... but the web site is better now!
 
I remember reading the brainstorming thread about this imaginary camera on DVinfo and thinking, "this is interesting, but this camera isn't really for me."

And then the posted the footage of the milk girls, and I couldn't shake loose the feeling that "this camera exactly the camera for me."

Every once a while a person or group of people come together to do something special. They smash conventional wisdom and open up a new world of possibilities. They do this without hesitation or doubt because they are different than most. It takes more than an idea, more than courage, and more than money to achieve their goals. These people can not be stopped and success, no matter what they deem that to be, is inevitable. It is not often we get to witness these people as they make their journey, but it is impossible not to notice it when it is happening. It is happening now and I am in awe as I watch. Thank you for being our inspiration and congratulations on your accomplishments. Happy Holidays to Jim and Red Team!
 
I remember hearing about the red for the first time. We had just formed the dead workers party at the end of 2005 and in early 2006 were thinking of making the jump from mini dv to an hd format.

we had no idea what we were doing then, but it just felt like the right thing to do.

I know a camera doesn't make a movie, but damn going from SD to 4k in a year will make you never want to shoot on anything else.
 
So...

Just before your first year you came up with ONE camera system.
Now, just before your third year, you have THREE camera systems in the works.

Do I see a pattern?

I couldn't sleep for a few nights dreaming of this amazing camera.

Jim, et al RED,

Even though I'm not part of the RED team, I feel like I've been there with you the whole time. You guys (and gals, too) are all the bomb! I think I've had the chance to interact with most all of you at some level or another - sometimes bumpy, sometimes smooth, but always worth it.

Looking forward to the next 3... and then the 3 after that, etc, etc.

This is my first post here (even though I read the forum from a lot of time) and I want to take the occasion to congratulate to the RED team and in particular to Jim!

Kudos Jim! You are doing a truly amazing work...I deeply admire you! You have created an unparalleled camera system and you really transmit enthusiasm for every thing you do!
