Sorry for the thread headline. I just wanted to start a new thread because this deserves it. Last time it was critiqued to death because people didn't understand what it was and compared it to the steadybag.

YES it's more expensive, but it's because it's not a steadybag. It has similarities but it's a vacuum package. This gives completely new heights in how to use the camera. You can transport it standing up in your trunk between locations (dont need to have it in your lap anymore). The bag will surround it securely. Or you can have it rock solid in the configuration you want when you strap it down on your car hood etc. Millions of configurations that can't be done in with any other tool in the same way.

The price is because of the cost of what's inside the bag. Same idea as emergency medics are using at accidents.

Have a look at it. I think you'll get the point if you do. It's simply ingenious.

PS Im not affiliated with these guys in anyway. I know them and I just think they deserve a second chance. Watch the gallery and make your own opinion.

I can certainly attest to what Fredrik is saying. I've used this thing on a couple of occasions - among that in an airplane where we used one of them to balance the camera between the seats over the walkway. Worked like a charm and was super simple to set up.

The security guys at the Polish airport were pretty skeptical about this contraption, however. But they too were quite amused with it when I showed them how it worked :-)

How does this compare to the P+S Technik one?

How does this compare to the P+S Technik one?

1. This is a REAL NAME forum. You can change it here: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=32432
must at least contain an initial of last name like Ivan G.

2. P+S TechniK is U-Shaped and not flat, and therefore seems more limited

3. P+S Technik only comes in one size and therefore seems less flexible

But if Zaphod is in fact your actual name, your parents were the coolest. I wanted to name my dog Slartibartfast.

Just couldn't bring myself to do it. Next choice was Regis (note, for non-Americans this is a reference to celebrity Regis Philbin) but I ended up getting a female dog from the animal shelter so it just felt wrong.

Don't judge me for wussing out on my pet's name!

Fredrik,
the PS Mukasey bag is closer to a Cinesaddle in shape. It´s a great piece of gear too. Looks like the V-bag have more mounting options. Looks really great! I would be very interested to buy one or two. Maybe this would be a item for another group buy?
Cheers,
Marc

Wow, this is very interesting. I guess the vacuum forces whatever is in the bag to lock against each other with friction. Tony, was it a Red One you suspended between two seats?

It is funny how the photo of the mukasey bag has the camera all tilting to one side...and I'm assuming that that's not necessarily because they wanted the shot to be a little off level.

I've used the V-bag before and it kind of feels like there's bean-bag beans/beads in it until the air is pumped out. Then they squeeze together the way vacuum sealed coffee bricks create a hard firm surface, and whatever form they're up against becomes the brick hard form that the bag takes, e.g. your camera and the surface under/next to/around the V-bag. Great device!

Yep! The vacuum is exactly why this product is so cool. You can set it up for the perfect shot - suck the air out of it and it'll keep it's shape no matter what. That also means you can strap two (or more) v-bags together for longer reach and even better stability :-)
