  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

hot damn! I've got a buddy who has a dealer order, sounds like he'll be in good shape. How's it looking for us Dec 10 S-W guys? I emailed Heather last week so I hope I can close the deal fast enough tomorrow! Cameras might ship out from you guys tomorrow, too?
 
Here in New Zealand its almost 9am Oct 11. Jarred can you tell me about the announcement? or should i wait USA time? lol

When I switched from Raven to Scarlet-W my rep said "no going back" and that I would loose my timestamp and just have to re-order.

No you will have exactly 22 minutes from the time of announcement till the cut-off time for all the deals being presented.

After 22 minutes you will have the option to upgrade to Epic-W for 2x the retail value of Epic-W ( 60k ) if you are coming from DSMC1 for the following 38 minutes.

After that you are out of luck.

Just kidding.

Yes you will have till December 31st to get your upgrade initiated. Just be prepared for a wait.

Hey y'all need some advice... My Weapon MG was just allocated but my plan is to get into either 2 Epic-W or 1 Epic-W and 1 Weapon Helium. I have 2 SW timestamps from early August. Is there any reason or incentive to buy the Weapon MG and upgrade from there? Or should I just switch the SW timestamps to EW/HW and ditch the Weapon MG? So confused about all these options haha, but I'm digging the brain exercises.

The specific delta between what Epic-W can do and what Weapon Helium can do has not been officially announced. Hints have pointed to a 275MB/s data rate on E-W vs 300MB/s on current Carbon Weapon - if correct, then you have another 25MB/s of throughput to manage compression ratios and leverage dual record strategies - i.e. R3D & ProRes/DNxHR simultaneously.

Max frame rates at larger rasters will be higher on W-H than E-W, hints suggest 60fps/8K FF vs 30fps/8K FF - I expect we'll get the full specs tomorrow.

Other capabilities, like better sensor smear handling, etc with more powerful internal boards has not been detailed AFAIK.

FWIW, the E-W looks to have tremendous bang-for-the-buck. Indie shooters may be well served by saving the difference between S-W and E-W, but IMO, anyone working/renting in the "industry" should be looking at E-W - or W-H if they have the projects/clientele to support it. Just my 2 cents.

I am in no rush either, I only just placed my SW deposit last week. Would you advise to email my rep tomorrow or wait a while? I want to be in line for the amazing E-W but I am not at all in any rush as I have a camera.
