  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

They will contact you when the time comes. Brent posted it should begin this month as well.

Both Brent and Jarred have made it pretty clear that 10/11 is really about making it up to the Scarlet-W folks who don't have a camera yet. As much as we are all excited about VV and 8K, all VV customers should already have a camera in hand. Heck, I have had my Weapon for almost a year.

Well for some people for their needs they don't need 8k footage. Also not many people have an extra 10k to throw at a quick notice most people here will be doing it via credit cards which in gonna cost them more in the long run with the charges etc. I'm sure a lot more people would if they were more financially better off (y). For me in sticking on scarlet-w just because I don't need 8k at the minute 4K pro red would be nice but I don't have 10k extra plus 6k for extras to drop.

+1 For Heather McKenzie, she is also my rep and has been terrific as well as understanding. I feel very fortunate that she is my rep and hope that she continues to be assigned to my account. She is both very competent and very real.

Its easy to over extend and you don't end up owning your camera, your camera ends up owning you.

"Jarred" must be the generic term for any hardworking president of a camera company :-)

2 months ago I PM'd Brent asking if its not against RED policy for reps to receive gifts from customers. That's how cool my squad rep called Heather M is! As well as Clark M that handled my account before Heather took over
 
I am not sure why, but I have 3 Heathers. Except their names are Kevin, Austin, and Jonah.

New plan. Dragon owners need to upgrade to Weapon first, like you should need to, like all the other loyal guys that played by the rules did.

So no more direct Dragon to Epic-W or Weapon Helium. Which is a shame because you guys were going to get something a bit special in all this.. but o well.

So There you go Nick.. you get what you wanted.. for us to be fair.

You have left no-one out!!! Ever.

People on here need to stop bitching about whether "they" are getting a good deal or not. Everyone has a choice. Just because "upgrades" don't suit everyone at every time. I have my Dragon. I am happy. For me, this is the best camera in the world. I get to switch it on every day and shoot 6K images all day, whether its a film or just my kids. And those images will be totally valid to a 4K output for years to come!

Did I upgrade to Weapon MG or Weapon CF? No. Why? That's my choice, be it the timing wasn't right, or business wasn't good enough to justify it. Who cares. I certainly don't. Do I feel hard done to. NO. Why? Because RED have done more than they ever have needed to do. I bought into the system and the system has rewarded me with images that are none-compariable with any other camera (in my opinion). Do I feel hard done too whilst others are using the "latest & greatest", again, no. I get to shoot 6K!!! And I'm happy for it.

RED have been "over generous" over the last 10 years, dating back to the RED One days. No other company has given upgrade deals like this. Everyone other camera manufacture encourages you to buy the latest camera. RED have offered to "help" everyone. Everyone has a choice.

Besides, sometimes, there are more important things in the world to worry about other than if the company you bought a camera from don't do the deal you want at the time you want it!

If I don't upgrade, am I going to bad mouth or not support a company that has given me a wonderful life by letting me do what I love? No. If anything, I will encourage new people to jump aboard the train. Take the ride. Those that know me, know my passion for RED. I will make great images with my "little 6K" camera :)

is clark out? i heard he might be getting promoted but he is my rep and ive never heard from him about any change.
 
Hey Jarred, I've been following this thread for awhile now and I forgot it you mentioned this yet - is there a priority queue for Epic-W or a certain order?

If not, theoretically if I was to order within the first hour from the Scarlet-W queue, what would the estimated shipping wait time be?

It has been stated several times the guys still waiting for their SCARLET-W cameras will take first dibs. Having said that, I'm sure timestamp will play into it. I know I will be trying to get in asap

but if we have learned anything in the last year. It is not wise to plan productions based off when YOU think you may be receiving a camera

Yes, like Matthew just said, people still waiting for their SW's are first in line and delivery will be based on your time stamp of when you ordered your SW. So if you put a deposit on a SW tomorrow, you will be in the back of the line for an EW should you choose to upgrade.
