  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Update Thread

Thread idea for mods consideration.

How about starting a closed thread that only RED Team or mods can post in. That is, monitor this thread and when a viable question or piece of information comes up that is informative, it gets reposted into the closed thread for Jarred, Brent et al to respond to.

Some treat this thread like a chat room and it makes it very difficult to wade through to get relevant info.

Just a thought.

Epic-W exists for those that desire a better image, with more resolution, less sensor smear, and better color.

As cool as Mark Toia's video was, I don't think we've seen yet just how good Graeme's color science for Helium will be. Frame rates, FOV, compression, resolution, cost, upgrade paths, etc. etc.... the discussions can be endless. What I'm looking forward to is the new color. (not that I'm complaining about the current ;) ).

In case you all haven't read this entire thread...

Jarred's comments on Helium color science:

more (out of order)

True story

Will be a very big question: Helium or Dragon?!)

That is sort of a different question than Scarlet-W vs Epic-W, more like a film stock question.

Epic-W ( and Weapon helium ) both have the luxury of you making that choice down the road. After we catch up with Dragon sensor production you will be able to make that choice after the fact by just paying for a sensor swap. So Epic-W can pay to change to a Dragon sensor, and Weapon Helium can pay to change to a Weapon Dragon, just by change of the sensor.

That is why we don't write Dragon or Helium on the side of those cameras. And those sensor upgrades is a path that Scarlet-W and Raven cannot take.

That is awesome. Day made.

I'm wondering if Helium is superior to dragon in all the aspects like happened from Mx to Dragon.

After watching a ton of posts I still don't see if a sampled 8K to 8K image Helium 6K is better in low light than a DSCM2 Dragon 6K image.
Let's see if we can see the light on 11th ;-)

So an Epic-W in in fact different than the Weapon-MG with the Helium in it.
