I wish Apple would make the ultimate video editing workstation but apparently that "market" isn't as profitable any more for them... I suppose THAT is a money decision. After getting this E-W, I need a new machine and I've NEVER used windows since 1984 when I got my first Mac. But you're right Terry, this is off track.

It might not be the route that most people would take but I built my own Mac/Hackintosh with an ASUSx-99a motherboard with 64gb ram, 2 GeForce GTX 1060 Graphics cards that feed to 2 4k monitors and it runs OS X Yosemite off a Intel SSD. It handles R3D files like no ones business. Its not the most expensive machine you could build but it gets the job done and fast than what my mac trash can could do. Its a route you could take if you have an entire weekend to work on it.

Jarred, Brent,

Probably what I'm going to ask is completely silly, I'm not a finance guy, but I was thinking about a way that could really make everyone that wanted to join the next step to do it :

Is there any chance for an Apple subscription kind of model for the upgrades, if not for us on the train for a certain time?

Last time when I had to go Epic MX I had to go for a personal loan, which was very, very high on interests. Currently, with a 2 months old newborn and a house mortgage, going Helium is practically impossible, however, financing is ready for an Epic W.

I purchased a storage for the umbilical chord for my kid for about 10 000 US, and they allowed for instalments directly deducted monthly to my credit card.

I know this presents risks, but is there a possibility for an instalment purchase of an weapon Helium? Say we pay full Epic W upgrade price (my case Epic dragon) then pay a monthly instalmment of say 400 to 500 USD for 3 years?

You could probably charge a bit more for us having to go this route ( 34500 to, say 36000?) , but that would allow us to go into the "dream" next step ? Its a vote of confidence on your old redusers but implies certain risk...

Just trying to figure out if there's a possible route to Weapon Helium for me that would not break my bank and male finacial sense to you guys...

Financing isn't our business but we have partnered with some finance companies for the 11th that will make what your asking for very, very appealing.

Didn't you say you're waiting on a s-w still?
Yeah, Dec 10th order, but after finding out 8K 30fps, 6K FF 75fps, and 6K WS 100fps, I'm pretty much sold on the Epic-W. Hopefully my timestamp is early enough to get in on that first batch!

Interesting... Are we talking like a flat "pay X per month" or is it more like a loan where we pick the duration of the term, pull credit for a lower interest rate?

Worldwide?

In this case by "partnered" do you mean "got drunk in Tokyo with"? ;)

Are the slim, camera flush batteries still a thing? I haven't heard or read to much about them, but I can imagine they would be pretty clutch for gimbal use.

Interesting. I'm paying cash for my Epic-W on the 11th from my dealer but I might rather take advantage of financing so I can grab some extra 512's, a new EVF and maybe a 7" touch. Problem is my dealer is expecting the cash on the 11th and I don't want to cause a delay that lose my place.

Jarred, is it possible as a SW preorder upgrader going to Epic-W through a dealer to finance accessories for our Epic-W through your Oct 11th partners in what seems to be a part of the drunken finance plan?

Thanks again, what you have done has already changed my scope of work for the rest of the year and we are still a week out.

You don't have to do the mad dash on the 11th to get a timestamp or order in. They said just contact your rep ahead of time with your plans to upgrade and then execute it on the date and you'll keep your dec 10th timestamp. You'll definitely be in that first batch man. Without the stress of hitting refresh on the 11th

I thought I had read that somewhere so I sent my rep an email earlier tonight. Thanks for the heads up!

But who am I kidding, I'll still be here refreshing constantly, haha

Jarred posted a pic a few days ago and said he uses em every day but that they are still being tested for a while before production begins. I too am super pumped about these batteries!

For all parties involved? Or just the Scarlet-W folk? Sorry if this has been said. I just know last time I read about some kind of financing or something it was only for Scarlet upgraders.

This would be something extremely helpful if all could be involved!

Haha no doubt, but just wanted to give you a heads up that you can join in and watch the crazy without actually going crazy. You'll have the piece of mind that you have an epic-w waiting for you. I feel like I'm on the borderline. I'm a February Raven timestamp and seriously considering switching up to s-w so I can switch to e-w and get the financing plan option they thought of drunk. But it depends on that. I don't know if I'd be a first batch though with a February timestamp

Holy shit. I've been away from reduser for a month and a half and it seems like I'm missing all the fun.

Can someone please give me a basic overview of what's been hinted at and what we know with respect to the Oct 11th announcement?

Im a weapon MG owner and I'm in line for a Scarlet W. But I'm pretty much sold on the new sensor for its low light improvementswitch.

A summery anyone?

Thanks. ;)

Sounds like two new cameras: Epic-W at $30k, Weapon Helium at $50k (I think?). Weapon Helium is the Stormtrooper specs, but black.

Epic-W does 8K at 30fps, 6K at 75fps, 6K WS at 100fps. It can record 4K ProRes proxies, not sure on flavors of ProRes yet.

Your Scarlet-W order can be upgraded on Oct 11th to give you a $20k price on the Epic-W. It sounds like your Weapon MG can be upgraded to the Weapon Helium for around $15k (this upgrade price reflects trading in your camera, unlike the Scarlet-W's discount)

I think you're in a pretty incredible position. Just make sure your Weapon MG is registered to you before Oct 10th (if you bought it from RED you should be good)

Basically, for like $35k you could potentially have both Helium cameras. Damn, dude!

edit: oh, and here is a link to Phil Holland's frame comparison tool if you're interested in visualizing the sensor sizes at various resolutions compared to Dragon. http://phfx.com/tools/formatCompare/

In your case, I think you can make a sideways move to epic-w or since your in line for s-w you can switch over your order to the epic-w which is a $30,000 8k camera with the helium sensor and receive a 10 thousand dollar discount and also receive priority and be first in line to get the camera since you've been waiting a long time for your camera. You'll also have the option to get some as of yet detailed drunk financing plan for upgrading on top of the 10k dollar discount towards epic-w. That's pretty much all I know that Apply's to you.

Oh and epic-w does 8k 30 fps. 75 fps 6k, 100 fps 6k ws and records 4K pro res

Probably your best rout would be to go back to where you left off and start clicking the RED logo in the corner of Jarred and Brent's posts. You'll get through their updates fast and can skip all the craziness in between.

Thanks so much guys! I really really appreciate it.

Red ROCKS! LOL
