  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Another way we want to make it up to the people who have been waiting a long time with no camera… You will need to order with your rep to keep your original timestamp in place.

Won’t dig into details, but assume folks who don’t have cameras (i.e., deposit holders for SCARLET-W and RAVEN) will have a speed pass. Until those guys are sorted, we won’t being the trade-in upgrades for SCARLET-W and RAVEN since you guys already have a camera in hand.

Hey Elsie, here's the first part of Brent's post about Raven scarlet w priority. There's another one later where I asked if there was any reason to switch to s-w from Raven deposit before the 11th and he said "do nothing unless you want the drunken finance plan" which I assume to mean both of their time stamps are treated equally

That is, I have my RAVEN in hand, so if I want to upgrade it to Epic Helium do I need to get in line on OCT 11 or will I be allocated based on original time stamp?

Your original timestamp does not apply. They are taking care of people without cameras at all first (Raven, scarlet w depositors) and then will go on to people upgrading since they currently have something to shoot with and make money, etc. whether you have to get in line as a Raven owner I'm not sure but I know the mx owners do. You probably would be safest doing so. I think I'm the 11th your camera will show up as an upgrade option and you have to place an order which will be your new timestamp
 
I've been following this thread and I really think it's amazing what RED is doing.
I won't be able to make the jump to Epic-W, too far from my economic possibilities, but I'll keep using my RED ONE M (which creates as beautiful images as the first day back in 2008) and my EPIC-X MX (already a heck of a gift from RED, back to the year).
I believe it will be hard for me to rent any of them, but I'm pretty confident this both beautiful cameras will keep making the same beautiful images for years to come.
So, thank you very much to everyone from RED for creating such beautiful image making devices. Yours are the only cameras I ever shoot (and I've shot with almost all of them) that make me fall in love right when the screen turns on.
I think I don't need to say this but, just in case, never loose this magic, guys!

I know it's hard to comprehend but the majority of our customers don't even know what REDUSER is.. and there are a lot of people that do know but they don't pay attention to the banter because it drives them bat-shit crazy.

So this "opportunity" or "loophole" or whatever you call it is just for those that haven't given up after 300 pages and continue to pay attention.

Just don't be going out and taking out billboards advertising the fact :)

For the majority of the people, they wont even know what happened until after the 11th when it will be too late anyways.

This thread is making me dizzy... now I have to ask, my Epic Dragon has been in process for two months now (vs the 5-10 day turnaround) for the Weapon MG upgrade. The move from dragon to Epic W is the same price I paid for dragon to Weapon MG upgrade. Jarred said we weren't going to be "trickfucked" by all of this. So, wouldn't we just be able to get the Epic W in place of the Weapon Dragon if they are so available right now vs having to make another upgrade decision later on a camera we had faith in that won't really exist in the lineup by the time we get it.

I'm a little confused about the pecking order for upgrades. At one point I remember hearing that Epic Dragon Orders would have "pole position" but seems it could be Scarlet-W first? Just trying to figure out the quickest way to get my hands on an Epic-W, right now I have a Dragon I would like to upgrade but would it be faster to just place a Scarlet-W order right now?
 
Jarred/Brent, would have sent each of you one of these as a token of my appreciation but this camera thing came up and I can't do both, so I chose to get the camera in appreciation for myself... sorry. '-)

I just remembered this comment from way back when (like page 20 which seems like last year given the speed here)... no offense but after all these recent developments I'm very very happy you were wrong.
 
Hey Jarred my cousin who's a student (not on reduser) was asking me if RED education discount applies to the upgrades as well? Please let me know. Thank you!

I think this way of thinking changed as their mentality now seems to be , the people who have been waiting and don't have a camera deserve pole position even though epic dragon guys have been waiting a long time too. At the end of the day they still have a beast of a camera to shoot on while they wait whereas Raven/s-w depositors may not. But that's just my assumption and I could be wrong
