  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wow, just wow.. this leaves me somewhat sad..

Letting my trusty Dragon go into another life and welcoming Helium :-)

This really just made not only my day, but all the days until the 11th

I know this has been mentioned here before, maybe someone has figured it out by now. Time travel? I just need to go forward almost 9 days. Anyone? Seriously, Anyone? Or, maybe a cryogenic freezer so I can wake up tomorrow morning on the 11th.

Im sure there will be some special look filters made.. but with DSMC2 we removed the sensor specific low pass bits from the swappable OLPF filters and put them directly on the sensor glass, which means you don't need a specific OLPF to go from sensor to sensor with DSMC2, you just change them for color and fx.

Helium is phenomenally accurate in terms of color reproduction right out of the gate so it can use a huge array of color filters in front of that low pass.

So we can use the olpf we have o the helium? Or when I send my SW back I need to send also the olpfs and they will be changed with the new Ones? Thanks Jarred!

I'm literally somewhere near the North Pole and have been waking up early before flights to check this thread.

Crazy, crazy awesome what you guys are doing for Mysterium-X shooters to get them up to speed into the current generation of RED cameras.

Going to scramble and try and make this happen!

Will this get us to an equivalent ready-to-shoot mode? OR will accessories be an unexpected addition to this upgrade price?

I'm guessing it's brain only pricing here. And I wouldn't say there's anything "unexpected" about buying new gear. In fact Jarred's spilling the beans on a lot of details 8-9 days early.

Sure. It'd be unexpected for me, if I move forward on the assumption that this upgrade price gets me to a ready-to-shoot state. Just going to have to wait to figure out the final total price to be able to hit the ground running when the upgrade is done. Oct 11 can't come soon enough!

As with most Red camera upgrades, I would expect you will need separately to purchase a display and power mod. I wouldn't expect anything else.

I'm hoping to be able to reuse my existing display with an adapter of some kind... not what the big boys and gals will do, but for me, it'll have to do.

The idea will be to step into the DSMC 2 world with the basics, slowly get rid of all my old accessories as I figure out which ones are no longer of any use, and then step into the world of DSMC2 accessories over time. It'll be a process. I can't splurge!! Wish I could though... ;)

He he, thought so. Just trying to figure out my options and business plan for the near future. Having all these options are great, don't get me wrong. It was just a bit easier last time. Epic-M? Check. Got it all.
A few more things to take into consideration now, so we are all greatful for all the beans that are spilling out of the RED HQ at the moment.
 
I'm going for the upgrade, don't want to be in the hassle of selling my epic MX.
I'm ready. Thanks for this amazing opportunity.
