Interesting to see if these actually resolve 8K as they claim.

+1.

And I'm also a bit sceptic about coverage on the wide end with the 18-35. (I know the stills version of the Sigma art 18-35 vignettes on Dragon 6K) Probably have to go down to around 7.5K on Helium (according to Phil Hollands tool.) I guess time will tell.
I hope for a great match together with Epic-W/Helium if they cover.

this is the video that got me hooked on red

I know you posted this like 4 pages ago but I just want to say that this is also the reel that made me fall in love with RED. It's the first thing I ever saw in 4K, at the big ass theater at RSH during REDucation 2012. What I wouldn't give to have a 4K copy of this reel...

Perfect question and perfect answer. We don't want too many details. That's what the 11th is for.

I'm stoked at the answer "Will the Epic-W be able to shoot Prores with Redcode R3D at the same time?" "yes" I'm totally content with that being 2k or 1080 prores with r3d. That would be great. Coming from Epic Dragon, I see that reducing my rig by exactly one shogun recorder.

4 pages goes in the blink of an eye with this thread. but YA the Original Epic promo is so dope

IMO, the 24-105 f 4 has trouble with the Scarlet in 5K. That lens never ceases to disappoint me.

Since the discussion has turned to lenses, does anyone know what kind of resolving power one can expect from Leica R primes? I'd suspect they're great, but wondering how they'd pair w/ all those K's.

Leica lenseso are among the best in the business.

Yeah that's was I was hoping to hear. Lens choices can be so subjective and I've been super happy, aesthetically, with my new set of R's on M-X... needed some reassuring that investment will perform on Helium too. ;)
