So it's thanksgiving here in Canada on Oct 10th, told the fam I have to do something extremely important.. stay up to upgrade my S-W lol

I'm sure someone asked this but couldn't find it through the 300 pages... once we place the upgrade deposit to Epic-W and we already own an S-W, do we have to send the camera back that day?

I think since you already have the camera that you'll be further back in line for allocation. It sounds like they are honoring timestamps for fulfillment, meaning there are a lot of Raven and Scarlet-W guys that never got their cameras who will be fulfilled first.

Silly question. But what lenses today will be able to resolve 8K?

The pixels arent what determines that, it's the sensor size. Even though the helium sensor is 8k its not loads bigger than the dragon at 6k, I believe all lenses that work for s35 should work on the helium as well since it's effective 8k size is about the same as dragon at 6k.

When you talk about cropping the Helium - please keep in mind the following...:

Based on this chart I made this quick dirty diagram to consider the S-W to E-W switch. My main crux with the E-W was on how punched in on the sensor I would have to go to get the hfr's that I use at 4k so very much on my S-W. These 4 resolutions are the 4 that I believe will be the largest factors in most peoples decision as they are for sure in mine. Cheers :)

Resolving is different thing than coverage. If your lens doesn't resolve to 8K level of detail, it is bit like adding blur on on your image... 8K sensor will require more resolving power than 6K sensor even if they are exactly the same size

MY guess is that the Epic H at 6.5K WS will be about the same width as the Scarlet W 5K WS (no guess there) and will be about the same maximum frame rate of 60 fps. It will have a more powerful engine than the Scarlet W (about the same as the Dragon Mg) and will thus give similar performance at the same sensor real estate but with higher number of pixels and whatever additional benefits that Helium brings. The price will be higher compression which is unknown at this point, but the Scarlet W has to go up to 9:1 from 4:1 to achieve this frame rate and if the Epic H is 9:1 at 24 fps (this is at 8k so probably less compression possible at 6.5k) then it is likely to be higher than 9:1 at 60 fps, but that might not matter.

Nice chart, helps visualize all these K's. I also go 4K often on S-W for the HFR, going 4K on the E-W would be way too much crop, so I'm hoping HFR can come from 6k

Not sure if he is up yet but someone find Brody B and get him to ask away.. That Whiskey he sent me was so good it earned him 3 questions.

But needs to be in the next 2 hours as I gotta go shoot some stuff today.

BRODY BRODY BRODY BRODY BRODY BRODY BRODY BRODY_B!!!

I can do that! Im a mentalist after all!....Brooodyyyy.....waaake uuup......!

Ahahaha. You guys crack me up :willy_nilly:. Sorry guys I was on a job and didn't get a chance to look this morning. Just got into lunch. You gotta love the excitement on this thread, Jarred always keeps us on the edge of our seat. :thumbup1:

I know its late Jarred so maybe you can grant me one answer.

Will the Epic-W be able to shoot Prores with Redcode R3D at the same time?

All in all I am pretty content in the information that has been brought forward. I have already made my decision to upgrade to Helium Weapon. So this one is more for the other folks here that were wondering. And maybe its weird but I like the suspense, and the golden eggs or "cookies" dropped here and there. It keep us on our feet. LONG LIVE RED!!! :cheers2:

Oh and did I mention this place is Fucking Awesome!!

and Jarred thanks for the question offer, glad you enjoyed that scotch man, their both my favorites for sure ;)
