it works great. another close friend owns one in town and we had been using that, or a Bartech. the dji is so tiny and works great pushing cine glass. Travis busted his ass off for me this summer, often taking rates below normal to help. he totally earned the equipment.

Sorry Chris, I'm getting checked out for dementia, and things are getting bad at times real recently.

I take it that you think it's Jaw droppingly good ungraded, and there are some good people that own them (but how that proves how good it is, I don't know, as it was a snap purchase, and people around hetevare likely to buy just because it is Red), but this doesn't show me frames so I can judge myself?

You either trust in RED or you don't, it's that simple. RED doesn't have to release footage shot from their cameras in order to entice sales because people support a company constantly pushing the industry forwards, not holding it back like other camera manufacturers. I mean, look at their supply/demand issues right now....that says something. I don't think RED even imagined the demand for Raven/Scarlet-W's would be this high, but it's good for all of us. It just means RED is saturating the industry.

Yea, the footage is insanely good. The color rendition is very organic and is only going to get even better. The resolution, well, is crazy. There is a buzz in the air....and I don't see it dying down for quite some time.

Chris, it is not a religion, I have faith in proof. But you aren't considering I'm talking about from people who now own the cameras. Why talk up and cut across a simple question so it doesn't get answered.

You need to research the actual history before Red to find out what we are missing out on, I was there. BM is the only company coming close to delivering at the low end, and I fundamentally disagree with the cost of their approach. Now BM and Red can push certain burrows, which is good for them they have the money to do it. But they can be drastically undercut by real competitors doing it a cheaper way. However, it looks like Red has the volume in sensor sales, and nice volume in cameras, and are paying it all off, and rep on higher end, to survive such a thing. As far as I know, BM, has not the volume (reduces the cost per unit) asic lines that Red does (but with their equipment business they could develop such). But they literally are better off finding a core solution, and adding custom bits around it, like when I pushed Red towards such a solution to process footage many years back (hard to remember but my head is clearing up now. But when Jim was covertly asking for suggestions on dvinfo I supplied plenty, that the Red One fullfiled, the camera basically, except price and sensor, and highest frame rate, followed the spec I outlined in the cinema camera projects in 2004/5).

Anyway, I am deviating, and probably giving answers to a post in another thread. Anyway, watch their space, more good things coming, but they aren't god.

Feel free to be a negative nancy somewhere else and don't plague these forums with it...it's not the place to do so. Not saying you can't have your own opinion, just don't discredit and accuse as that won't get you anywhere.

I am not a nancy idiot, negatively fulling space with untruthful positivity, that is your mistake. Now, you can go around falsely accusing honest people that are being realistically positive, of falsely acussing, rubbish, rubbish, but you have not amounted much from it.

Now, start reading, and less hasseling innocent people.

Wayne,

I know that you are suffering from Dementia right now, so don't take these words as Critical or Harsh.

Chris M. Contributes a lot of good to our community. He's a working professional. I know him personally and he's an amazing guy.

There are Helium R3D files right here in this very forum ready for you to download and examine in RedCine X Pro - make sure you are running on beta 42.

Here is a Link to a thread where there are a BUNCH of R3D's

#71

here's another link to more - bunch of beautiful stuff in this thread:

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?148008-Helium-RD3-still-frame-files-Dc-Camera

Go easy on Chris, he's a solid dude, and try not to take this stuff so personally.

From what I can gather from your many posts, at one time you were a consulting engineer working in electronics, you may have either contributed some engineering or consultation to Red at one time. I'm sure you were under NDA if it was official.

We can all tell you are a smart guy, try to take it easy on yourself and on other forum members here- it will be better for your health and on the impact you make on this forum and this world.

Kind Regards,

Dan

How do you know that these issues or solutions were not already in the think tank at RED? Given the quality of engineers within the company I'm sure these and many more issues were being bounced around to feature and performance standards, dare I say it, beyond even your most awesomeness capacity for innovation. Not everything has been your idea, invention or blueprint as you seem to so often allude, and I'm pretty sure that stands true with regards to the 'gubbins' contained within the architecture of the initial RED Camera range.

Thanks dude!

I don't understand what they are toying around? I suppose they are having fun...
Though I would love to see more usuable modules. With some viable audio board and controls, solid TC and wireless implementation for example.
Is really the only choice Tilta?

Well thanks Dan, but if you read the stuff you would know that is wrong. Certain people take things personally and sling it, and I say enough. Simple as that, and I am not the only one that should bother to read others posts and carefully examine and respond to them. I think your comments are perhaps directed to the wrong person taking things personally (I.e. read the post history). So if one contributes good, and another bad, what is one to do. Frankily, things are a physical headace trying to read and do good, as the mods know how many hours I will take doing a posts sometimes (4-6 hours) because of diminished capacity to read and write, but not to reason, just to be careful.

There is OMOD as well. The POEs are already shipping. I have had a beta Command since last year, a Command RT on order and planning to get the Command RT+ once it ships. While it actually has much more than I want / need, it does include everything that I want / need, which is digital audio input, ACN time code / genlock and RT Motion.

We will probably see a lot more module options from 3rd parties now that they have an official 3rd party program. Maybe you can talk to your favorite accessory maker and see if they can build something you want. Or maybe start a thread on a module wish list and describe your ideal module. I am sure many others will describe their dream module. Then a 3rd party can use the thread to help them figure out what to make.

Is there a thread that lists all of the 3rd parties and the modules they have announced? That would be useful.

I remember seeing a DSCM2 aks thread. i think it exists but obviously only so much stuff comes out so its probably burried in the forum

Marc, read this is for your knowledge.

Marc, you are new so you may not be aware. Plus, you may not realise how little of it relates to me. Please don't try to invalidate my sub 1% and invalidate their 99%+ by claiming I am claiming more (plus I know top engineers, and they aren't gods, but fractionals. Rare to find any of them that are truly expansive creatively like people seem to think. That is why we have team work).

But as I said, before Red was, before the engineers, there were other DIY cinema camera projects this came out of, that I was writing for, and that even asked what they should do. There was a thread before Reduser, asking for suggestions, so I laid out what I laid out before, in hope, something people would want to buy (below $10k, probably below $5k. Now I've been doing this for over 30 years, but in main over the last 12 -15 years Opera I sent in hundreds of detailed suggestions, and under previous management they developed the best work environment of any browser, and adopted many of my suggestions within a month or two (the build cycle). Sony made a request before the Z1 for suggestions, I made a few suggestions, including being able to shoot different frame rates for different markets on the same camera, and you could then buy these models. Drake camera, SI. I was around forums that Sanyo, Aiptek, and others were getting feed back in, and laid out how cameras or features could be, and they often were adopted among the companies. Microsoft blue screen of death issues, I made suggestions concerning that, within 6 months it was being implemented. Others I forget with Microsoft, was pretty sick around that time. Android related, I make dozens and dozens of suggestions through the back door, some get adopted, some not. Maybe not one Google search suggestion (it was hard to find where to give them feedback, hence it is one of my least desirable search experiences now, and like a fight most times). The local state government, I put a submission for one thing around 450 pages, and that apparently was handed around departments according to my local member who was a senior. Even though a number of the suggestions pop up, they are usually cocked up because nobody bothered to come back and ask me how it should be done, to get some balance. A good solution often requires a fine balance to get it to work properly. I do master design work for operating systems and computer hardware in my own work, and thousands of world first technology, design, and science proposals. Around here dozens of suggestions. But Red has different focus than me, so only some suggestions fit them. There are more but I can't remember.

At all stages, the suggestions don't exist and then pop up directly after I suggest them. One design I came up with that did pre-exist, was a design for a artificial diamagnetic affect. But such things are a complex flood of interconnections and sorting that flood my mind in a second.

With my private technology designs though, these things trickle through years, sometimes decades, after I discover them, eventually rediscovered by others before I have the money to do them, which is a pretty good track record of being right.

I come up with two leading proposals for graphic technology. One, I was planning on doing a alternative technology to the web, and wanted compressed graphics, but raster compression didn't scale right so I thought about forming and storing shapes instead. I wrote in for a graphics research position and mentioned this idea for internet graphics on my application. Didn't here anything back, but within 6 months somebody at the research group had applied for a patent. Their implementation is pretty poor compared to what I eventually figured out. Hundreds of millions lost in today's terms. The other, I had figured out a new way to do 3D graphics, and wrote the basic mechanism in a draft letter in hotmail. Then I was locked out of my account. Like 10-13 years latter this guy, same city, came up with what sounded like the same graphic technology, getting hailed as a genius and truly revolutionary etc world wide. Guess what, he looks exactly like the kid that used to change around when I was using my hot mail on a public computer writing up the basic design before my account got locked out. Same nationality too, the right age. He had spent many years going around different people trying to figure out how to do it, and by that stage was decades behind my work, which is now completed within a year or two. There is basically nothing left to do in 3D graphics. Hmm, just remembered this one. But he HSS root patent now (and I was planning on implementing it as an api on the second generation of my operating in system, as a selling feature, bummer). The OS design and technology is still best ever, but its lead erodes year by year, but not the hundred million+ to implement it. These two research areas are private commercial works of mine.

However, at all stages I'm giving community suggestions that are unpatentable by anybody else (be warned, I am very annoyed and eager to invalidate illegitimate patents taken out on the actual things I suggest (not their own derivatives, which is their own work) if anybody comes by and pays me to do so). These things are given freely as suggestions, not for others to claim exclusive rights on.

I don't do much anymore, as I have been very sick and much diminished on my capacity. But we will see how much loss I can recover. However, things have started to turn, and the thread (mental threads) are back, let's see if I can do more than rubbish working out (rubbish as in 1/10th of what I could normally achieve). There is a better world out there, we can't just leave it in the hands of selfish recalcitrants to take everything for themselves and give us the dribble.
