Now, Brent.. I got the invoice in €. Now is it possilbe to get it in British pounds? Who to call, redeurope is closed. Need to pay today for obvious reasons :)

I think it is based on ship to location? Not sure, not my area of expertise. I will pass along to our HQ folks who deal with REL...

Very nice, obviously well shot and went through a nice grade.
Anyone know if it'll use a new color science? Interesting how the specs show it as having 16.5 stops of DR, same as Dragon. Are they related or is Helium totally new sensor tech?

Wonder how Helium images compare to Weapon ungraded? No doubt early adopter will be running a ton of tests soon...

For those that haven't seen it yet. So clean and smooth looking... I'd love to see a non web version.

Looks really nice, but I find it hard today to actually see if a camera is good if I'm not looking at a huge 120"+ screen in 4K. Cameras today are so good it's much harder than a few years ago.
It could be the grade of course, but I find the colors to be a bit less patchy, more pleasant. But it's hard to know for certain without R3Ds in front of me :)

I thought this bit of text on the description page was interesting, "It also features an upgrade path to the 8K VV sensor."
I saw that after the fact. Kinda makes me feel better, but not sure. The way I'm looking at this is we have to decide between staying S35 or moving to the larger VV pipeline. It stands to reason that we'll see a 10.5K+ Helium VV sensor and an ongoing path for that level of camera.

I think Helium 8K will be most interesting for MG owners as an upgrade, based on the cost of an upgrade of course. We couldn't afford getting 8K VV both because of the heavily increased cost of the CF and VV on top of it. For those with a CF Weapon and 8K VV I'm not sure that Helium is going to be that much better. Looking at the footage (of course it's waaaay too early and it's only one video so far) it feels pretty close to what's achievable with the Dragon sensor. The DR isn't different and you get only 60 fps in full s35mm compared to 96fps on the Dragon 6K, so having an 8K VV is another thing entirely, mainly due to the increased field of view which creates a whole other feeling to the images shot.
So I think Helium might be a great path for MG owners to 8K, at least that's what I'm hoping hahaha, of course it depends heavily on the price. If the price is like buying another camera entirely instead of just upgrading I'm not sure it's gonna work for MG owners.

Good point. Although the shot where the boy walks in is pretty amazing in terms of DR and detail. Maybe not that different from what you can achieve with the Dragon sensor but it still looks pretty darn good to me.

The good news is orders are already being picked for shipment today so I would expect a lot of footage being available soon for your viewing pleasure : )

That's great news and it probably includes a certain amount of jealousy from most viewers...

Brent...great job on The Underdog!

Edit: I presume some folks over at Arri are hitting refresh on their browsers to get a closer look at the film....

Tough spot...
I wish we could compare specs.
Would it be possible to switch from 8K VV to 8K S35 if the last one fits our need?
I have to admit that I'm getting confused... I want 8K but I don't know about the flavor yet...

Yes... in October when Helium really begins.
