  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'd imagine it's a "pay in full right now" deal. That's why it's for "the brave", i.e. the guys who are willing to drop all that money right now.

Hopefully these funds help put those Dragon sensor ovens into overdrive ;) I know I certainly don't have the cash to drop on one of these Stormtroopers!

EDIT: Also, it's looking like maybe this camera will live alongside the Weapon, price-wise? I know it's more expensive right now, but it might come with extra kit gear and you're also paying for the immediacy of it. If it does end up being close to Weapon or CF weapon price, then I suppose the big option is larger sensor size (at 6K) or cropped with higher res (8K Epic-W). It will be interesting to see what the image differences are in terms of Dragon vs Helium.

wow, a forged weapon is $59k, i wish we knew more about al the specs and frame rates and compressions, i would totally jump on this if it exceeded some of the weapon specs other then the 6k vs 8k.
 
If this is for a new Helium, I wonder what the upgrade cost is gonna be for MG? Doesn't seem to be on par with the sensor upgrades in the past ($9500).

Im guessing you can calculate the compressions and framerates etc from the VV8k weapon. As I doubt the body, bitrate etc are anything new. It´s a new sensor but I assume the rest is pretty much VV8k. The mags kind of limit the data rates oas of now.
 
AArgh!!!

Helium really excites me - I love the s35 sensor size, all of my film experience has been this format and I have lots of glass for it. Wish I wasn't bleeding money starting this cable food network thing... or I'd be in line for a pair this afternoon.
 
Specs will be posted at time available for purchase. Since such a limited quantity, there is no "reserve ahead"...meaning, "please stop emailing me" to "set one aside." I cannot. With the small amount, we will cut orders once we hit our limit based on hard orders.

This is so painful for those of us still waiting for the 8K VV upgrade. I'd be all over this if I didn't already have the VV coming "soon". Unless I can trade in my 6K Weapon CF for one of these and apply my 8K deposit over as well...

Or am i hitting refresh for no reason? Talked to red europe they said 5pm central european time today... now that seamed to be more of a guess from their side as its allready passed that. And they said they did not know more then they read here.

but can anyone confirm friday is helium day, right? not saturday.
 
It's today, yes ... within the next two hours I believe.
