Guys.. Girls.. Do yourself a favour!

Go see the movie "THE THING"...

You have to see the original (Carpenter.. Kurt Russel)... This is the movie before it../.. if you know what I mean.

So well done!... I almost shit my pants in a couple of scenes.. So well done.
I love the original, It's a classic. I was so happy that who ever made this new one really stuck to the same formula...

Really solid.

Ugh...I hope your right mark...I hold the original (1951), and the one with kurt russel...those are some BIG shoes to fill!! And as much as I love Mary Winstead...yeah...we will just have to see. But I trust your judgement! I am excited to check it out! :)

I think everyone on reduser would be surprised how often I quote or paraphrase from the Thing (1982)... It's probably my most under-appreciated quality.

Mark, is the music as good as 82's?

Back off! Way off!

They did well.. It wont disappoint. They kept the same shooting style, same alien (but even better constructed).. Same story flow into the original...
I was so happy they didnt screw it up.
I think who ever directed it, 84 the THING... must have been one of there favs too...

I most certainly am going to get the BLU RAY of it.

I hope they record the discovery with on a video cassette/camera and that one of them slits his wrists for MacReady to find... otherwise it's a sham. Same music = gold! Isn't that track a Carpenter original?

I just saw it last night. I was blown away. It was so so much better than i expected. I was Very VERY freaked out by it. I just watched the trailer for the first time and i still got chills. Had a hard time getting to sleep last night.

GO SEE IT

Well! I better get on it then! :D

It's solid. Special effects are top notch, there's definitely some twists and scares in there, and the cast does a great job. But as far as the basic story line there are no surprises.

The "prequel" is basically the same as the thing with a different cast, and they say it's in the past. That's it. Otherwise pretty much follows the story of the original The Thing to the letter.

So very enjoyable, good job by the director and cast, but I was expecting something a bit different story wise.

Looks wise, I thought it was a bit grainy, but maybe I saw an abused reel. I wasn't sure if the ubiquitous lens flares were doctored in post, but IMBD says it was shot in anamorphic. I do like those horizontal streaking lens flares.

No...sweeds... lol :P

Actually, I can't find any swedish actors in there. But there is americans, canadien, an australien, a few norwegians and a couple of danish(actually know one of the guys). Maybe there is a swedish actor in there, but I can't find him :)
