  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The single best buy...

It is hard to believe what a RED ONE with an MX sensor can be purchased for. One can own the same camera that shot "The Social Network" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" for next to nothing.

Just sayin'.

Jim
Ya for some low budget first time indie guys, a complete RED ONE MX rig could allow them to shoot five features in the next two years . Fantastic opportunity.

two cameras mean Scarlet and Epic ?

Vithya

I think they must be thinking of Scarlet, Epic and Monochrome as all being flavours of the same camera. Certainly they can all share the same add-on bits.

The only thing that keeps me from adding an R1 to my Scarlet is the need to have a whole different set of support accessories. Otherwise, it's a great camera for the money.

Jim,
Its also hard to believe that a digital camera that I purchased 7+ years ago is still earning a living and renting to clients. #83 is special, can't seem to part with her.

Red should provide a way to purchase a warranty for all these cameras, it would be nice. Because owning a $4,000 used Red One which may cost $6,000 in repairs is something quite scary ;-)
Kristin

Buy a second one for $4,000 instead of spending $6,000?

Well I am not selling my RED ONE #476 ever, it will be in service for at least 5 more years and when it is retired it will be on display next to my old Arri 16Bl.
